Funeral program for Mrs. Lee Etta Hawke. The funeral was held Thursday, August 15, 1957 at Second Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. S. H. James, Minister. Funeral arrangements were made through Lewis Funeral Home and she was buried in Eastview Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

No other names have been provided. On the back of the photograph, there is a hand-written letter from Peter Harton, but its content or addressee cannot be read with certainty.

Document certifying the transcripts from a recorded conversation on July 5, 1955 between O. B. Ellis, General Manager of the Texas Prison System, and George Ramirez, #129694. Ellis questioned Ramirez about his involvement in the federal lawsuit filed against the Prison System. The document was signed by Ramirez and notarized July 13, 1955.

Letter from Frank Pinedo to John J. Herrera thanking Herrera for his loyal support and for the nominating speech he made at the National Convention. Pinedo also writes to Herrera about his thoughts on the election of the new National President. "I am disappointed but have concluded that I was beat by the manuevering an machinations of the Laredo group at the Convention [...] but since Laredo won't do anything for our League I am looking forward to the day when we can recapture our organization."

Herrera also lets Pinedo know that Herrera wants him to be at the installation ceremony along with Felix Tijerina.

Herrera, from unspecific League of United Latina American Citizens source, dated February 15, 1955, in regards to the declaration by the Supreme Council that the offices of the National Organizer and the National Chaplain are vacant and inactive. The author of the letter states "I hope that the action taken by the Supreme Council will not keep you from working very closely with me on LULAC matters [...] I would like to appoint you as a Chairman of a National Committee to study ways and means of increasing the educational opportunities that are available to persons of Spanish extraction."

Letter to Luciano Santoscoy, National Director of Publicity and Editor of LULAC NEWS, from John J. Herrera, describing Herrera's emotions towards the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling supporting the progression towards abolition of Hispanic discrimination in Texas. "The word is beautiful and culminates the heartbreaking efforts of more than a dozen lawyers who worked for more than twenty years to overrule the iron clad opinions of the highest Texas courts."

Letter to Luciano Santoscoy from John J. Herrera. Herrera gives Santoscoy details of the United States Supreme Court vs. Pete Hernandez (the case fighting against the practice of discrimination of Latin Americans from Grand & Petit juries, and as Grand jury commissioners) and the "glorious victory." Herrera tells Santoscoy, "I think you should print the whole decision in LULAC News for our posterity also giving credit to Carlos and Gus for their perseverance work and use of their own funds to the end that the Hernandez case be won." Herrera also tells Santoscoy that he will not be running for National President of LULAC as he plans to run for the Texas Legislature from Harris County. Herrera mentions in the letter the personal phone call from Senator Daniel Price announcing the Hernandez case victory.

Letter from Oscar M. Laurel to Albert Armendariz, National President of the League of United Latin American Citizens addressing the reasoning behind the sixty day requirement of the submission of names of candidates running for the office of national president: "To notify the national office sixty days prior to the national convention is merely to appraise all the councils throughout the League of the names of the persons so interested." This resolution was created to help with "the matter of so called 'dark horses' who, by reason of political strategy and maneuver withold until the last minute the placing of their names in nomination."

Letter from Jacob I. Rodriguez, Executive Secretary-Manager of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in San Antonio, Texas, to John J. Herrera, LULAC Past National President, dated June 15, 1953. Rodriguez addresses Herrera's defeat for re-election as LULAC National President and expresses appreciation for work done during Herrera's tenure as president. Rodriguez also mentions outstanding LULAC News bills which include Munguia printers who printed the newsletter.
