Arlan's of New York hopes to open the new stores about November 1, Jesse Sims, superintendent for Goodrich Building Corp., said. Goodrich is doing the work for $1.5 million, 135,000 square foot buildings, which will be able to handle about 1,000 cars. Sims, his brother, is superintendent of the N May job. Arlan's is a complete line department store, including food stores. Its decision to locate here was announced some months ago."

The $10 million project, which will bring the number of patient beds to 710 from current 507, also will add dietary, surgical and related facilities, replacing the old central section of the hospital located at NW 10 and Lee. Architect for the project is Turnbull & Mills, Inc., and the general contractor is Manhatten Construction Co. Slated for a later date is West Central Tower, which will add additional patient bedsm and cost another $10 million."

Caption: "The U.S. 66 bridge over the Neosho at Miami was high and dry Monday morning, but the roadways on either side were under water as the river reached a width of more than two miles. The top picture shows the bridge looking south to the flooded lowlands. Here is where trouble can develop if Grand lake back of Pensacola dam can't take care of the flood waters coming down the Neosho. This is the junction of the Grand and Arkansas river looking south near Muskogee. The Grand is coming in from the left. Already lowlands are being flooded in this area."
