Sellers expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell dated July 7th. Sellers advises that he had previously received copies of the enclosure and confirms that the letter is entirely false noting that such tactics are often employed by a certain type of politician.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from, James W. Middleton, First Baptist Church, San Angelo, Texas, dated July 15, 1942. Middleton assures Carswell that he and the pastor of the First Christian Church want to have a campaign under Carswell's leadership but advises that some preachers will not take a stand. In a postscript Middleton advises of a sermon the deacons are publishing to build sentiment against this "terrible business".

A letter written to C. M. Johnson, Lt. Col., Camp Sutton, North Carolina from T. N. Carswell, dated July 15, 1942. Carswell advises Johnson that he had learned that some men were still needed in his regiment. He asks Johnson if the need is of such a nature that he could meet it and then lists his qualifications.

A letter written to F. H. LaGuardia, U.S. Director Civilian Defense, Washington, D.C., from T. N. Carswell, Commander, Parramore Post 57, American Legion, dated July 15, 1941. Carswell issues an invitation to Mayor LaGuardia to visit Abilene when his duties call him to Texas citing Texas will have to contribute effectively to Civilian Defense work because its location will require it.
