He reminds Crane of the vote taken by the Trustees to give the corner stone to her but advises her that Mr. Caldwell suggested the stone be preserved here by placing it in an interior wall of the new building now going up. Carswell advises that they all want to do what will be most pleasing to her.

Carswell advises Johnson that he had learned that some men were still needed in his regiment. He asks Johnson if the need is of such a nature that he could meet it and then lists his qualifications.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Louie D. Newton, Pastor, Druid Hills Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia, dated June 15, 1946. Newton expresses to Carswell his appreciation for the gracious letter of June 11th and asks that Carswell remember him in his prayers.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Tom Connally, United States Senate, dated April 15, 1946. Connally explains that the letter from Carswell dated February 18 regarding Pauley was delivered while he was attending the United Nations conference in London as a delegate during which Pauley withdrew his nomination. He advises that he has enclosed a copy of the report he gave to the Senate upon his return from the United Nations conference and that the report conveys his views of U. S. foreign policy.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Grover Sellers, Attorney General of Texas, Austin, dated July 15, 1944. Sellers expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell dated July 7th. Sellers advises that he had previously received copies of the enclosure and confirms that the letter is entirely false noting that such tactics are often employed by a certain type of politician.

Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service, District Director, Dallas, Texas, dated December 15, 1960. Hodges confirms the enrollment of Carswell in the tax clinic noting Mr. J. T. Logan and Mr. Herschel Boggs will be looking forward to seeing him there.

He advises Morrow to write to each a personal letter telling them of his prospective senatorial candidacy. Carswell promises, "I shall do all I possibly can to accomplish your election to the U. S. Senate in the firm belief in so doing I shall have served well my state and nation."

A letter written to Senator Price Daniel, from T. N. Carswell, dated March 15, 1956. Carswell compliments an address made by Daniel and the solution he offered to the Texas situation. He encourages Daniel to run for governor promising his support and efforts in Taylor county and the surrounding area. Carswell advises Daniel that Texas needs him in Texas for the next few years.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Lyndon B. Johnson, United States Senate, Office of the Democratic Leader, dated February 15, 1954. Johnson expresses his appreciation for the advisement by Carswell on his views on the Bricker Amendment. Johnson advises that Senator Bricker offered amendments to his resolution and discusses his opinion on the subject. "I favor an amendment providing that any treaty or international agreement which conflicts with the Constitution shall not be of any force or effect. - any international agreement other than a treaty shall become effective as internal law in the United States only by an Act of Congress."

Simmons expresses the appreciation of the committee for Carswell's enthusiasm and contribution to the Eisenhower campaign discussing the unreasonable costs of a political campaign making Carswell's material and personal services invaluable.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from F. F. Andrews, Post Commander, Havens-Cannon Post 24, West Grade School, Principal, Anadarko, Oklahoma, dated February 15, 1941. Andrews advises of his interest in the Abilene Ministerial Alliance due to two companies out of Anadarko being in the Abilene area. He advises of the enclosed rosters for the two companies explaining that the town and the men's officers are interested in the welfare of the men. Andrews advises of several Indians belonging to the company and suggests, for unusual entertainment, that they be asked to perform some dances in their costumes. He gives assurance they are not looking for special attention for these men acknowledging their understanding that there are 19,000 men that need the attention of the Abilene community. The attached rosters are of Company "F" 120th Quartermaster Regiment and of Battery "B" 158th F.A.; a penciled "a" is by the names of men who are from Anadarko . The reverse side of the roster includes handwritten names and notations. An attached roster provides a listing of names of officers from Anadarko and a postscript by Andrews stating, "These men are worthy of any trust that you may ask …
