This design "consist[s] of posts, a barbed-wire line connecting the top portions of the posts, the horizontal slats, the vertical wires secured at their lower ends to the lower portions of the post, and looped around the slats and connected at their upper portions to the wire line, and thence extending upward and secured to the upper ends of the posts above said wire line, and wire loops passing around the ends of the lower slats and connected with the lower portions of the vertical wires" (lines 82-93).

This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the jambs of a fireplace, of a frame consisting of front-pieces detachably fastened to the jambs, back pieces fastened to the respective front pieces and formed with steps, and a top board connecting the sides of the frame, together with sections resting on the steps and forming a fire-screen and blower" (lines 10-17).

Patent for a new and improved wire stretcher. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a block carrying bails or loops, and longitudinally grooved, of racks mounted within said grooves, a crank-shaft carrying a pinion, said shaft being mounted in standards secured to the block, pawls arranged to engage with ratchet-teeth formed in the racks, and clamping-jaws fixed to opposite ends of the racks" (lines 87-94).

Skirt Ironing Board.

Patent for a new and improved ironing board. This design "consists [of] an ironing-board provided with hinged detachable leaves and with devices for holding said leaves open, which board is hinged or pivoted to the end piece of a frame, the lower part of which forms a box to receive that part of the article that hangs down, while the rest is being ironed, thus protecting it from dust and dirt and keeping it moist" (lines 12-20).

Spring Frame for Freight Cars.

Patent for new and improved springs for transportation. This design provides "vehicles for the transportation of merchandise . . . with an interior spring-padding, and in some cases with intermediate elastic floors or partitions, by which injury to the load, by jolting while in transit, shall be prevented, and which shall further conduce to the preservation of fruits and other merchandise of a like perishable nature" (lines 22-30).

Wheel Hub.

Patent for a new and improved wheel hub. This design consists "[i]n a sectional hub, each spoke-socket having a separate side opening closed by a plate [that] fit[s] into an annular groove . . . of the cylinder . . . and [is] held by bolts passing between the tenons of spokes, to allow each spoke to be separately reached and tightened by a wedge under the end of its tenon" (lines 59-65). This "obviate[s] the necessity of removing the wheel-tire for replacing a broken spoke with a new one" (lines 7-9).
