Caption: "A severe storm swept into the Oklahoma City area shortly after noon, snarling traffic and leaving two communities temporarily black out. The weather bureau said .66 inches of rain fell at Will Rogers Field during the two-hour torrent, most of it in 20 minutes. Winds up to 40 miles per hour were also registered as the storm struck about 1 p.m. The storm dropped the city's temperature 14 degrees in an hour, from the day's high of 87 at noon, to 73 at 1 p.m. the new downpour, added to that which fell here Thursday night, amounted to a total of 2.08 inches during the 24-hour period ending at 6 p.m. Friday. Tinker Air Force Base had a reading of 3.86 inches. Portions of Nichols Hills and Bethany were without electrical power for a time during the height of the storm. Wind, coupled with lightning, knocked out the NW 84 substation of the Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. Service was restored in 20 minutes, a company spokesman said.
