Methodist Church, Marshall, Texas

Black and white postcard of the First United Methodist Church, located at 300 East Houston St., in Marshall, Texas, photographed in the early 1920s. The building was constructed in 1861. It is a front-gable brick-masonry structure in a Greek revival style with a bell tower and steeple on the peak of the front gable. Three sets of steps ascend to the entrance porch, which has four tapered square brick columns surmounted by a pediment. The view shows the facade and the right side of the building with its raised basement windows visible. At the top of the image, printed in red is the title, "Methodist Church, Marshall, Texas." Printed on the right side of the i mage in red: "Fry Hodge Drug Co., Marshall, Texas." There is a postmark dated May 14, 1923 on the back. The card was addressed to Miss Sallie Woodrome, Yoakum, Texas.
