The letter is written on blue paper which is torn at the bottom right corner. It has an envelope addressed to Charles B. Moore in McKinney, Collin County, Texas. The letter was started on July 12th, and Henry continued to write through at least July 15th.

She would like to have them visit her, and even tried to go visit them for the fall, but it fell through. She talks about the schooling of her children and how she might have to send them to boarding school. She would like the Moores to write back a long letter.

She talks about what she did Monday and the reason why she was unable to write Monday night. She had a weird dream Sunday night. She talks about the weather and hopes it will rain. She washed some clothes and did some reading. She went with Minnie to look at Mr. Darbis' flowers. Minnie received a letter from Linnet's father. She received a letter from Mr. Taylor who sent only Linnet love. She calls Linnet her adopted daughter and asks about the boys Linnet met. She heard about a letter from Linnet to Jim Cook. She sent a letter to Carter that she would not be going to Austin and that …

She mentions that she and Birdie will do all they can for Mary Ann if they decide to go through the Doctor Alice has suggested. She closes by stating that Linnet needs to think this over and write her soon. In the letter written by Birdie, she discusses Mary Ann Moore's grave illness, mentions that Alice has also written about this surprising news, expresses her wishes to see her, and notes that she wants Linnet to write with additional news very soon.
