A letter from Alfred F. Hurley, Chancellor, University of North Texas, to D. Jack Davis, Vice Provost, UNT, Co-Director of the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, about granting the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts temporary exception from UNT's publication policies in regards to NTIEVA stationary and business cards. Hurley attaches a copy of the full policy and request a written rationale for a standing variance. The second document is a policy excerpt for the use of long-held symbols or artwork specific to a department of UNT. The third document is the start of the policy manual of UNT in regards to University Communication, Marketing and Publication Policy.

In regards to leaving her position at the Amon Carter and leaving Texas for southern California to work for the J. Paul Getty Museum as the Education Manager for Family, Teacher, and School Audiences. Perkins writes how sad she feels leaving her many friends, colleagues and the members of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts and hopes she can get together with McCarter before her departure.

In regards to the Summer Institute in Corpus Christi and that Means has had great pleasure in working with the teams. Thanking Sonneberg for attending a meeting with them to discuss the elementary visual arts program in the DISD, and appreciating Sonnenberg for the leadership to insure the elementary students in Denton receive quality instruction in visual arts. Davis and McCarter are especially appreciative of the support Sonnenberg has extended to NTIEVA and its efforts. Davis and McCarter are proud of the strides the program has affected the district in the three short years, yet are fearful about the impending budget crisis the district faces and the districts reasoning to reduce the number of art specialists because of such. Davis and McCarter hope no such thing should occur and that eliminating or reducing the number of art specialists will affect the quality of the program which has been developed along with hampering any further relationship with DISD.

McCarter writes that from the point of view of NTIEVA, there has been new energy and focus from Woolery's good words from their panel, TASA/TASB. It gave NTIEVA them insight into the leadership Woolery is providing. McCarter also writes that they appreciate Dr. Skinner and Bill Cormack, who have proven themselves as able spokespersons for the distract during their recent meeting at the Dallas Museum between DMA Education Committee and members of the Board of the Marcus Foundation. McCarter ends the letter by stating that NTIEVA is in the early stages of planning for activities during the summer of 1995 and that the involvement of the Dallas teachers makes them look forward to another successful Institute. Copied on the letter are, Jack Davis, J. Skinner and Bill Cormack.

McCarter's letter to Duke summarizes some of the events that is going on in North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, such as Nancy Berry releasing press information about a recent trip to Lugano, Switzerland to work with the museum educators and school administrators. McCarter also addresses a newspaper article from the Dallas Morning News which features the efforts between the University of North Texas and the Dallas Museum of Art connecting with one another. Enclosed with the letter is the press information from Berry and the article from the Dallas Morning News.

Photocopy of a letter from Cassandra Broadus, North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Donna Engels, teacher at Evers Park Elementary School. Discussing her enjoyment when visiting Engels' classroom and how the children were so receptive and interested in the art lesson. Enclosed in the letter, Broadus has provided an interesting art reproduction by artist Melissa Miller and her work "Clowns," hoping that Engels can be able to use while teaching her class the letter "M." Broadus will contact Engels at a later date to discuss details about another visitation.
