The letter is in regards to Williams participating in Alexander's meeting with Los Angeles arts and education leaders to discuss the actions which the Department can take to acknowledge the role of arts education in national education reform. Williams has attached an enclosed statement that identifies several of the Center's national projects.

The memo is in regards to the annual meeting of the Regional Institute project directors on November 3 through the 6th. Included in the memo is the basic agenda for the meetings.

A memo from Leilani Lattin Duke, Director of the Getty Center for Education in the Arts, to Jack Davis and William McCarter, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. The memo is in regards to an attachment of the American Association of Museum's (AAM's) annual meeting. The theme of the meeting is "Partnerships: Museums and Communities," and Rosenberg believed it was of interested to Davis and William for their consortium of museums.

In discussion of an upcoming class trip from Plano students to the DMA for a video session. Reynolds writes that the expected trip will take place on March 31, at 10:00 am with a second grade class from Christie Elementary in Plano. The children will first view a video in the school taught by the classroom teacher and art specialist before the museum experience. The two video sessions will be part of a joint Texas/Nebraska teleworkshop that will be broadcast to 19 states on October 7 and 21.

Thanking Sonneberg for attending a meeting with them to discuss the elementary visual arts program in the DISD, and appreciating Sonnenberg for the leadership to insure the elementary students in Denton receive quality instruction in visual arts. Davis and McCarter are especially appreciative of the support Sonnenberg has extended to NTIEVA and its efforts. Davis and McCarter are proud of the strides the program has affected the district in the three short years, yet are fearful about the impending budget crisis the district faces and the districts reasoning to reduce the number of art specialists because of such. Davis and McCarter hope no such thing should occur and that eliminating or reducing the number of art specialists will affect the quality of the program which has been developed along with hampering any further relationship with DISD.
