The hopes and dreams of the forgotten and homeless of Oklahoma City were dealt a shatteering blow Sunday after a fire destroyed the Salvation Army's only self supporting shop and warehouse. The blaze and water and smoke damage destroyed most of the contents of the warehouse at 2401 NW 7 where used clothing and furniture are renovated by the handicapped to be sold in thrift shops throughout the city. The building, nearly three stories high, is the city's sole outlet where the Salvation Army recieves its money and is self supporting, Brig. Wilbur C. Young, temporarily in charge, said Sunday...The men who do the actual renovation of items in the warehouse are benefited directly by the work, Yong explained."
