Dozens of Oklahoma Cityans inspected the unit at an informal open house Sunday afternoon. The two-story concrete and steel structure fronts on NW 13 and backs up to the main hosptial, to which it later will be connected. It houses food service, storage, purchasing and other departments previously located in a 35-year-old residence which will be razed immediately to make room for the proposed five-story hospital wing. Opening of the annex marks the completion of another phase of Mercy's $1,725,00 expansion program. the 92-bed wing will be $949,000 addition to be financied in part with proceeds from a public subscription campaign. When this addition is up, it will be tied to the annex by both a tunnel and an enclosed second story overpass. With the opening of the large, all-stainless steel kitchen, on the first floor of the annex, Mercy will inaugurate an "airline type" food service to patients.
