Photograph of Charley Porter, SCS technician, kneeling in a field of tall fescue, brome, orchard, and hairy vetch irrigated with sewage water. Cattle can be seen grazing on this field. The back of the photograph proclaims, "Cattle grazing on cool season grasses and legumes that have been irrigated with sprinkler irrigation system using sewage water. Patent for a new and improved horse carriage. This design calls for "the rider [to] press the treadles so as to hold the wheels in contact with the ground. When sufficient speed has been acquired the treadles are released, and the springs will then raise the wheels from contact with the ground, and the momentum will then be sufficient to keep the wheel erect. Should it be inclined to tilt, it may easily be righted by pressing either treadle so as to throw the wheel on the tilting side in contact with the ground" (lines 61-74).

Harness-Pad Hook.
Patent for a harness-pad hook meant to attach the pad to the harness for gig-saddles. The hook "will be capable of adjustment to suit the size of the gig-saddle with which it is used, to the end that the hooks may be manufactured after all the same pattern" (lines 14-18). The hook won't damage the gig-saddle and the hook has finger-grasps.
