Trypsin induces an aversive response in zebrafish by PAR2 activation in keratinocytes (open access)

Trypsin induces an aversive response in zebrafish by PAR2 activation in keratinocytes

Article using zebrafish as a model and identifies that trypsin induces an aversive response in zebrafish larvae and adult zebrafish. Results show that the trypsin activates PAR2 on keratinocytes signaling the brain, and this pathway of trypsin-induced escape response will provide a unique communication mechanism in zebrafish.

Reference materials for phase equilibrium studies. 1. Liquid–liquid equilibria (IUPAC Technical Report)

This article is the first of three projected IUPAC Technical Reports resulting from IUPAC Project 2011-037-2-100 (Reference Materials for Phase Equilibrium Studies). This report proposes seven systems for liquid–liquid equilibrium studies, covering the four most common categories of binary mixtures: aqueous systems of moderate solubility, non-aqueous systems, systems with low solubility, and systems with ionic liquids.

Cross-Language Comparison of Mismatched Annotation in Interlinear-Glossed Texts

This presentation explores the variation in interlinear-glossed text (IGT) in 5 closely related South-Central Tibeto-Burman languages with verb stem alternation, reduplicated adverbial modifiers, and pre-verbal directionals. While IGT is a rich representation of language, IGT for even closely related languages can look markedly different due to individual linguists’ divergent analyses. In comparing the discrepancies between representations of such features, we gain insight into the underlying analytic thinking of the annotator to reexamine and improve analyses.

Exposure to diesel exhaust particles results in altered lung microbial profiles, associated with increased reactive oxygen species/reactive nitrogen species and inflammation, in C57Bl/6 wildtype mice on a high-fat diet

Article investigating if the exposure to diesel exhaust particles (DEP) can alter commensal lung microbiota, thereby promoting alterations in the lung’s immune and inflammatory responses. This article also explores if diet contributes to the alteration of the commensal lung microbiome.

Ion-exchange mechanisms and interfacial reaction kinetics during aqueous corrosion of sodium silicate glasses

Article on the ion-exchange and associated interfacial reaction mechanisms of silicate glasses. This work reports findings that shed light on the complex ion-exchange mechanisms during glass hydration and enables more detailed understanding of the corrosion and glass-water interactions of silicate glasses which has the potential to impact both science and technology.

Deep learning for peptide identification from metaproteomics datasets

This article explores a proposed deep-learning-based algorithm called DeepFilter for improving peptide identifications from a collection of tandem mass spectra. The authors find that DeepFilter is believed to generalize properly to new, previously unseen peptide-spectrum-matches and can be readily applied in peptide identification from metaproteomics data.
