Woolridge advises Headquarters of the resignation of Mrs. Longnecker requesting that an inspector "come out and check over" their Board and give recommendations. Page handwrites, in red pencil, orders to send CAS [T. N. Carswell] to El Paso No. 4. A handwritten note at the top of the telegram is in regards to Mrs. Rose D. Longnecker.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Hallsville, Texas, dated July 6, 1943. Davis discusses his conference with Drs. McConnell and Atwood [F. M. McConnell, Julian Atwood] confiding that they were "very anxious" to get Carswell to "take up and carry on" and offers his support if Carswell joins them. Davis handwrites a postscript advising that "we have two Jeff Davises here" and requests that Carswell be sure to include the box number on the envelope.

Nami, Department Judge Advocate, The American Legion, Department of Texas, dated August 6, 1943. Nami expounds upon the beauty and riches of the country surrounding the 3rd Division. He then explains his reasons for not expressing his opinion regarding the funding of candidates is to not burden his successor.

C., Policy Supervisor, State Headquarters for Selective Service, Austin 17, Texas dated August 6, 1943. Fellbaum commands Carswell to instruct Mr. Kenneth L. Walter on the duties of Clerical Audit Supervisor.

Jenkens acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell regarding the proposition from the United Texas Drys. Jenkens conveys his high regard for Carswell's work and his admiration for Carswell. Jenkens expresses sadness regarding the death of Mrs. Bob Walker.

A letter addressed to Major L. M. Fellbaum, Field Division, State Selective Service, Austin 17, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, CAS, Dallas, Texas, dated November 6, 1943. Carswell orders two sets of Application Forms for employment to replace the sets he gave to the Dallas Board and advises of being shorted one copy of Form 57 in the sets that were sent to him in Laredo.

A letter addressed to The President of the United States, The White House, Washington, D. C., from T. N. Carswell, dated July 6, 1944. Carswell begins by stating that he trusts the President will comprehend the spirit prompting this letter and confirms that the President has the support of the congress but notes a trend among the people themselves that is deeply forboding, a public opinion which might circumvent and nullify the President's leadership. Carswell recommends Roosevelt not run for re-election but be the country and the world's ambassador for universal peace. "Mr. President, to few men has come the opportunity and necessity to make such a decision. May you, under God, make the right one."

A letter written to Honorable T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Tom Connally, United States Senate, dated September 6, 1944. Connally expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell and advises that he is pleased to know that Carswell secured the information regarding a Veterans Hospital for Texas and that Mrs. Carr served him. Connally thanks Carswell, in handwritten postscript, for his sentiment regarding his service in the Senate.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Thomas E. Roberts, Secretary, Board of Trustees, Hendrick Memorial Hospital dated December 6, 1946. Roberts advises of a date change for the Trustees' meeting. Dinner will be served at 7:00.

Carswell advises of the needs of a "wholly dependent mother, helplessly ill, of an enlisted man" and requests information regarding U. S. Army help for the families of enlisted men. He requests that the proper authority in their Department reply as to "what the Army can do if it wants to", that the Army can do something if it wants to, therefore, this inquiry is to find out what it can do.
