Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Principals W. Alva Wells (left) of Shawnee and J. E. Sutton of Midwest City have plenty of elbow room to watch. With or without fans, bands and noise, the Shawnee Wolves play like champions. Midwest City learned that simple fact Tuesday afternoon in the vast emptiness of its gymnasium. Shawnee defeated the Bomber, 47-39 to clinch at least a tie for the Mid-State Conference championship......When the same two teams met in Shawnee several weeks back, more than a few of the patrons forgot that basketball is a game and that sportsmanship is a prime ingredient of games. in fact, some went so far as to commit criminal acts...It might have been a more thrilling contest except R. B. Lynam felt Shawnee should be far in front and went about putting his team there......The Bombers struggled back within four points, 41-37, with 2:55 remaining before going down to stay."
