He then expounds upon the political situation of Senator Daniel and the unknown time of the special election which is causing the delay of his own announcement of intentions. He requests advice on the situation from Carswell and from others that are interested from his part of the state.

Anderson issues an invitation to trustees to attend the service as E. M. Collier receives an honorary doctorate degree from Hardin-Simmons University.

A letter addressed to the Honorable John Ben Shepperd, Attorney General, Austin, Texas, from Wiley L. Caffey, Abilene, Texas, dated January 6, 1956. Caffey requests advisement by Shepperd on whether or not the setting aside of a sentence by the court in the discussed case restores citizenship and entitles the person convicted to vote.

Letter from W. B. Hudson to Thomas F. Forrest discussing the replacement of a temporary certificate of honorary recognition with a permanent one. He explains that he had sent Mr. Forrest the temporary one because the certificate from the postmaster general in Washington had not arrived yet. He writes that he has enclosed it with his letter, along with a commendatory letter from the postmaster general.
