A letter addressed to Honorable Roane Waring, Memphis, Tennessee, from T. N. Carswell, Delegate 17th District, dated September 3, 1941. Carswell advises Waring that he was privileged to hear and meet him at Fort Worth, of receipt of the brochure from the Department of Tennessee announcing his candidacy for National Commander and confirms that he is "for him" and will do all he can to that end as a delegate from Texas.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Commander Parramore Post No. 57, Abilene, Texas, from Sam Russell, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated February 3, 1941. Russell acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell dated February 1 then explains how he was trying to get the drill books but when unable to do so he wrote to Carswell to give him the information.

McDonald expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell of June 29 pledging continued support to McDonald's candidacy and administration. A letter written to Mr. C. M. King, Business Manager, Southwestern Baptist Teological Seminary, Seminary Hill, Texas, from (Mrs.) Jewel McLeod, Fort Worth, Texas, dated June 3, 1941. McLeod expresses her interest for employment in the office of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. McLeod notes that in December of 1926, she was offered a place with the Abilene Chamber of Commerce under the able direction of Mr. T. N. Carswell and resigned that place in October, 1935.

Jenkens expresses his appreciation to Carswell for having this matter referred to him.

Forman reminds the Legionnaires of the housing conditions and that things are abnormal in Fort Worth, the same as in any other city in the Nation due to the war effort, and to make all reservations with Mr. Herbert Joseph, Chairman of the Housing Committee.

A letter written to Commander Thos. N. Carswell, Commander, Fifth Division, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Henry B. Wiener, San Antonio, Texas, dated December 3, 1942. Wiener provides an update regarding the logistics of the National Americanism Program, the American Legion Oratorical Contest, the American Legion sponsored War Bond and stamp sales. He requests the full co-operation of Carswell's division then makes a request of Carswell to appoint some "live wire" member of his Division to assist in the program. "Praise the Lord and Keep the American Legion Membership Growing"..

Rather, Department Adjutant, The American Legion, Austin, Texas, dated December 3, 1942. Rather apologizes for their delay in answering Carswell's letter advising of the department move and new address. He advises that a membership progress report will be resent if necessary and that the stationery Carswell had requested has been sent.

Monk confirms with Carswell his appointment of Mr. V. L. Blodgett of Kerrville, Texas as 21st District Membership Chairman.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell from J. M. Willson, Floydada, Texas, dated September 3, 1942. Willson declines the invitation to attend the dedication of the Parramore Post building due to a previous engagement.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Fifth Division Commander, American Legion, from Owen Thomas, Judge 104th District Court, Anson, Texas, dated September 3, 1942. Thomas accepts Carswell's invitation to attend the dedication of the Parramore Post building advising that A. L. Stell and Mrs. Stell will not be able to attend.

Slagel, Captain Infantry Commanding Company D 10th Battalion Texas Defense Guard, Colorado City, Texas, dated October 3, 1941. Slagel declines the invitation to attend the Armistice Day Review due to Colorado City meeting Abilene in a football game the same day.

LaGuardia expresses his appreciation for the cordial telegram noting that it is not possible to say at the present time when he will be in Texas.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Commander, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from W. J. Wisdom, Chairman of Committee, John Tarleton Agricultural College, Stephenville, Texas, dated April 3, 1941. Wisdom advises Carswell of their placement on a committee created to work out the details of an organization for college students who are sons and daughters of World War Veterans.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, Parramore Post No. 57, American Legion, from L. P. Miller, Captain, A. G. D., Asst. Adjutant General, Headquarters Eighth Corps Area, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, dated January 3, 1941. Miller makes reference to the telegram sent by Carswell recommending Mrs. E. Lillius for army hostess at the Abilene Camp and advises that she will receive careful consideration when selections are made.
