A letter from W. Dwaine Greer, Director of IVAE, to William McCarter, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. The letter will serve as the contract as an art education consultant to the Getty NDN Project, Improving Instruction in Visual Arts Education (IVAE). The letter states that Davis will have to abide by the criteria and procedures set for art education consultants and be available for consulting. Greer needs McCarter to sign and date the letter in the space provided to signify his understanding and agreement of the contents.

Photocopy of a letter from Darlene Mann, Vice president of NCNB Texas to Jack Davis, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. The letter is in regards to previous correspondence where Davis and North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts submitted a support grant proposal. In the letter Mann writes that have received their request and it will be considered.

Photocopy of a letter from Bill McCarter and Nancy Cason, North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Carolyn Sherburn. Discussing a planned a meeting for the art specialists and coordinators, of their consortium participating in the Institute, for Saturday May 19th, at 10:00 am, in office Room 302 of the Historical Building. At the meeting the art specialists will be responsible for presenting their commercial art packages to the Institute with the objective of promoting ways implementing art programs into existing curriculum. In regards of Dallas participation in the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. McCarter writes that after reviewing their budget they have found that they will be able to fund one team from DISD for the first year at the Institute. After that one year they are going to discuss the re-entry of Dallas into the five year plan after discussing with the Getty Center about more funding. McCarter hopes to meet up with Dunn to discuss finer details in an upcoming meeting.

Photocopy of a letter from Marvin E. Edwards, General Superintendent of Dallas ISD, to Jack Davis and Bill McCarter, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. In regards to NTIEVA, for extending an opportunity for Edwards employees of Dallas to attend the discipline-based art education (DBAE) workshop. Edwards writes that their program looks beneficial in expanding the teachers art strategies, however, due to budgeting concerns they are unable to participate this year but hope they will be reached out in the future.

A letter from Phillip Charles Dunn, Program Officer for The Getty Center for Education in the Arts, to R. William McCarter, Co-director for the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts and Professor of Art at the University of North Texas, about A Survey of Art in Elementary Children's Literature from Prehistoric to Modern Times by Barbara Ivy. McCarter had sent a copy of the document to Dunn for advice on how to publish. Dunn suggest the document could be publish through the Educational Resources Information Clearing House (ERIC) and to contact Gil Clark at Indiana University.

Photocopy of a memorandum from Pat Warde, Center for Continuing Education and Conference Management, to Ruby Raines, saying that Cathy Mages just called from the Sheraton hotel concerning the special weekend pages that the hotel had put together for the people attending the program of June 1. In the memorandum, standard packages of the hotels services are described for anyone who is interested in staying with the Sheraton that evening, and to make reservations in advanced. Copied on the letter is Bill McCarter.

Photocopy of a letter from Cassandra Broadus, North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Elaine Schad, Denton Record-Chronicle. In regards to the interview Broadus had with Schad about the NTIEVA program and partnership with Pilot Point ISD. Broadus writes to Schad that NTIEVA is funded by the Getty Center for Education in the Arts and the University of North Texas Foundation and to mail Jack Davis for any inquiries they may have about it.

A newspaper clipping featuring an article about the Multi-cultural art festival at the University of North Texas, with more than one-hundred art educators attending the festivities. The program featured lectures in the morning and in the afternoon focus on modern and contemporary art, the emphasis on art education is to correlate it with the academic curriculum to make education stronger.

Photocopy of a letter from Anne Lindsey, Director of the Southeast Institute for Education in the Visual Arts of the University of Tennessee, to Nancy Cason, Project Coordinator of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. In regards to a meeting Lindsey had with Cason in discussion Lindsey was able to offer assistance and recommendations to video tapes for Cason's planning of the upcoming institute. Lindsey has loaned out the video tapes and writes that she doesn't expect them any time before July and hopes that Cason will be interested in them.

An application for grants under the Secretary's fund for Innovation in Education, from the U.S. Department of Education, Fund for the Improvement and Reform of Schools and Teaching, Washington, D.C. In the application for grants from the Department of Education, is a table of contents, a letter from the Office of Educational Research and Improvement from the Director, Richard T. La Pointe, application instructions and other legalities of the grant process. These pages belonged to the desk of Jack Davis, William McCarter, as they researched foundations to support their education reform program.

The memo is in regards to the Directors' meeting in Santa Barbara. Leilani Lattin Duke mentioned the ASCD newsletter devoted to discipline-based theater education at the meeting and Rosenberg has a attached a copy of the issue.

The memo is in regards to the updated dates on the 1992 Regional Institute Director's Meeting, the meeting will begin on November 3, 1992 and conclude in the evening November 6.

The memo is in regards to the attached copy of a join letter from Secretary of Education, Lamar Alexander and National Endowment for the Arts Chairman, John Frohnmayer, regarding the role of arts education in American 2000, the President's national education reform initiative.

A letter from Leilani Lattin Duke, Director of the Getty Center for Education in the Arts, to Jack Davis and William McCarter, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. The letter is in regards to Davis and McCarter's prior correspondence with Duke where they said the NAEA Distinguished Service Award to the Center was a gratifying experience as the award recognizes the tremendous contributions, including the institutes staff.

The memo is in regards to the resignation of Julie Abel, program associate, effective June 4, 1992. Delores McMullen will replace Abel beginning June 22 through early September, as Abel may rejoin the staff at that time.
