Davis touches on an exciting event and promises that he will send a self-explanatory letter regarding "a calvacade of youth to Austin" requesting that Carswell get Abilene's support.

Davis confirms that Bishop Boaz will be with Brother Douglas Carver on June 14, glad Carswell is "getting" a group to go to Austin and enthusiatically advises, in a postscript, that Marion County voted dry on Saturday giving them 129 totally dry counties to date. The reverse side includes a handwritten note, "Cash 28.00" and dated June 7, 1942.

Burleson writes relative to questions Carswell mentioned in the poll submitted by Burleson. He explains his vote on labor issues involving the Wood Amendment, the Taft-Hartley Law and the Wagner Act citing a difference of opinion and impression by Houston Harte, Editor of The San Angelo Standard-Times. Burleson expresses his hope to be able to discuss the issues more fully with Carswell.

A form letter from George Mahon, dated May 3, 1951. Mahon discourses on the MacArthur controversy and advises that Acheson should have resigned many months ago. He speaks of his concern for the country stating that he hopes they can get their feet on the ground as a nation and unify efforts toward building up the national defense program and towards preventing World War III. Mahon affirms his need for the prayers and advice of the people during these trying days. P. S. "As to our spending policies, we must avoid exhausting ourselves."

Carswell of Abilene, Texas as a representative of the various towns touched by Highway No. 4 in Texas and an advisement that he has the endorsement of the Texas Highway Commission.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Commander Parramore Post No. 57, Abilene, Texas, from Sam Russell, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated February 3, 1941. Russell acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell dated February 1 then explains how he was trying to get the drill books but when unable to do so he wrote to Carswell to give him the information.

McMichael refers to the request of a pre-parole investigation advising that a health report of Subject 95040 OP has been attached. Postscript by McMichael advises that a detainer filed against this subject by the Sheriff of Grayson County, Texas has been withdrawn making subject eligible for regular parole release on November 3, 1954. Attached is a letter written to Mr. R. N. McMichael, Placement Supervisor, Ohio Penitentiary from Richard H. Brooks, M. D., Medical Director, James Hospital dated August 26, 1954. Brooks advises McMichael that the medical records of Inmate No. 95040 have been reviewed and has retained the "No Occupational Restrictions" classification given shortly after arrival at the penitentiary.

Slagel declines the invitation to attend the Armistice Day Review due to Colorado City meeting Abilene in a football game the same day.

Thomas accepts Carswell's invitation to attend the dedication of the Parramore Post building advising that A. L. Stell and Mrs. Stell will not be able to attend.

Monk confirms with Carswell his appointment of Mr. V. L. Blodgett of Kerrville, Texas as 21st District Membership Chairman.

Wiener provides an update regarding the logistics of the National Americanism Program, the American Legion Oratorical Contest, the American Legion sponsored War Bond and stamp sales. He requests the full co-operation of Carswell's division then makes a request of Carswell to appoint some "live wire" member of his Division to assist in the program.
