Reservoir Construction

Photograph of reservoir constructed for a variety of purposes. Stockwater, irrigation, flood control, and all-weather roadway. Covers 78 survice acres and has approx. 230 acre-feet at spillway elevation. 24" drop inlet through fill. Elevation of drop inlet one foot below emergency spillway. 6" pipe through lower part of fill for complete draining. All-weather roadway over top of fill. Riprap for protection of front slope against wave action. Constructed with inmate labor and reformatory-owned equipment. Upstream portion of drop inlet. Inspecting inlet left right, Wayne England, employee of Federal Reformatory staff and Elza C. Bullen, WUC, SCS. Emergency spillway in background. 6" drainage pipe can be noted at right center of picture.
