Manjula Swargiary describes her experience during the 2022 Assam floods. The speaker is an assistant teacher with a HSLC education who speaks Assamese in addition to Boro. She is 48 years old at the time of recording. She talks about her experience going to school (her workplace) during the flood. She describes how her students would assist her in crossing the river and how the situation has deteriorated over time. She recalls her first job as a teacher, when her students assisted her in crossing a flooded area. She claimed they would form a chain on a shaky bridge to assist her in crossing it.

The University of North Texas (UNT) Department of Information Science, partnering with the UNT Oral History Program, will host a series of forums to identify best practices and strategies to respond to challenges around building, implementing, preserving, and accessing community oral history projects. The project team will convene librarians, archivists, oral history practitioners, public historians, community-based memory workers, and others working in oral history to identify good practices, share challenges and lessons learned, and prepare an actionable roadmap for building, implementing, preserving, and sustaining community oral history projects.

The University of North Texas will conduct an 18-month planning project to examine the current perspectives of community college librarians, faculty, and students regarding data literacy; identify the data literacy competencies needed for community college students; and develop data literacy action plans for community college libraries to assist community college librarians in assessing their capability and creating a road map to incorporate data literacy into their existing literacy programs. Data management plan for the grant, "Collaborative Research: Diversifying Human-Centered Data Science through the Research and Design of Ethical Games." This project studies collaborative learning in a virtual setting for groups of peers with conflicting methodological cultures and diverse backgrounds. An additional artifact of this two-year, interdisciplinary project will be a prototype of an educational game, targeted towards the underrepresented communities and the greater public, that will bring more people into critical conversations about the roles of AI and data science in our society. The primary aim of this research is the production of novel theories in learning sciences regarding collaborative learning in the face of diverse backgrounds and cultural norms.

Research on the simEquity project which will implement a scalable model for developing equitable, culturally responsive teaching practices through simSchool, a simulated teaching environment. The project will identify best practices to help teachers recognize and mitigate implicit biases that often impact student success. The project team will iteratively develop and test a Teaching without Bias curriculum and an AI-driven set of bias reduction tools that can be added to existing simulation instruction modules.

The University of North Texas and the University of Alabama, in partnership with the Pottsboro Area Library and the Tuscaloosa Public Library, will develop a program called "Raise Up Radio: Family and Youth Engagement in Library Supported Learning Via Radio" to address educational inequities that became even more pronounced during the COVID-19 pandemic and create a professional network of librarians who use radio broadcasts. Over two years, six libraries serving high-need rural communities in Texas and Alabama will each implement a total of four, five-week educational programs delivered over local radio stations. The program will leverage existing community resources to create accessible educational content through collaborative partnerships. It will connect libraries, museums, and educational institutions with students in rural communities through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) content. Local youth and families will develop these new radio programs using best practices for equitable youth and family engagement in learning. Interviews were collected as part of the Linguistically Underserved Communities and Health (LUCAH) project, which aims to make health information more accessible and culturally relevant for the Chin refugee community in order to ensure that they are getting clear and accurate information.
