Railway Signal and Crossing-Gate.
Patent for an improved railway signal meant to be used at crossings. It consists of a rotary signal post, operating mechanism, a lamp, an arm extension, the signal hanging from the arm, a bearing for the bottom of the rotary post, a box where the bearing sits, a sleeve that holds a cap plate for the box, a ladder from the post to the cap plate, and a brace.

Detachable and Adjustable Roller.
Patent for a new and improved hand-truck. This design consists in "the combination, with the sections . . . arranged parallel to each other and adapted to have a combined longitudinal and lateral motion with reference to each other . . . rollers located upon the under side of said sections, and the spurs on the upper faces at each end, of the braces . . . located, respectively, upon the lower and upper faces of the device and diagonally across the same, and pivoted at each end to said sections . . . the openings provided on said sections, and the dowels on said sections" (lines 68-80).

Lithograph of an original newspaper manuscript first published by Captain William H. May and Union soldiers while imprisoned at Camp Ford, Tyler, Smith County, Texas. The paper was published for the purpose of "enlivening the monotonous, at times almost unbearably eventless life of Camp Ford" (J. P. Robbins, Preface to The Old Flag). Included are camp, local, state, and national news articles; poems; advertisements; and a map of "Ford-Borrough." The manuscript was originally hand lettered and illustrated on unruled letter paper.
