The Proposed Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement: Background and Key Issues
The proposed Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) is a new agreement for combating intellectual property rights (IPR) infringement. The ACTA negotiation concluded in October 2010, nearly three years after it began, and negotiating parties released a final text of the agreement in May 2011. Negotiated by the United States, Australia, Canada, the European Union and its 27 member states, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, and Switzerland, the ACTA is intended to build on the IPR protection and enforcement obligations set forth in the 1995 World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS Agreement).

Interview with Jonathan Forbes, Canadian-born immigrant to Plano, Texas, as part of the DFW Metroplex Immigrants Oral History Project. The interview includes Forbes' personal experiences of childhood and education in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and dealing with the U.S. immigration and customs bureaucracy. Forbes also talks about his parent's decision to immigrate to the U.S., the similarities and differences of life in Canada and the U.S., his perception of changes due to 9/11 attacks, his intention to remain in the U.S. and gain citizenship, and views on contemporary political issues.

The school is described as follows, "Normal School, situated about the center of the city, is a splendid institution for the normal training of teachers. The museum and art gallery connected with the school are of great interest to tourists." The letter is illegible, and the postcard is addressed to "Miss M. McFaddin 1141 3rd Ave. Huntington, W. Va."

Letter from Eugene F. Westheimer to I. H. Kempner thanking Ike for thinking of him and tells him that he left the hospital three weeks ago. He also says that he expects to leave for Charlevoix that evening by train. Eugene hopes that Ike’s condition has continued to improve. Eugene dictated the letter over the phone and will have his secretary sign it for him since he has not been to his office yet.
