Hill Presents," "1956," "Filmed and Edited by Roy E. Hill," and "Helen, Art, and Bonita." This first segment begins with footage shot from their moving car as they pass through Houston and Texas City on their way to Galveston. Footage includes the Texas Heroes Monument, exteriors of homes, boats on the water, businesses including the Omar Khayyam Club (04:28), and docked tourists boats the "Yacht Garmencita" and "Miss Texas" (04:29). The family visits Fort Crockett (04:44), plays on the beach and in the ocean, observes boats on the water, and swims at the hotel pool. This segment concludes with the title card "The End" (11:17).
