Statistical Techniques Applied to Aerial Radiometric Surveys (STAARS): Principal Components Analysis User's Manual (open access)

Statistical Techniques Applied to Aerial Radiometric Surveys (STAARS): Principal Components Analysis User's Manual

From abstract: A Principal Components Analysis (PCA) program has been written to aid in the interpretation of multivariate aerial radiometric data collected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) under the National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) program. The variations exhibited by these data have been reduced and classified into a number of linear combinations by using the PCA program. The PCA program then generates histograms and outlier maps of the individual variates. Black and white plots can be made on a Calcomp plotter by the application of follow-up programs. All programs referred to in this guide were written for a DEC-10. From this analysis a geologist may begin to interpret the data structure. Insight into geological processes underlying the data may be obtained.

Mesa NTMS 1° x 2° Quadrangle Area: Supplemental Data Report (open access)

Mesa NTMS 1° x 2° Quadrangle Area: Supplemental Data Report

From abstract: This data report presents supplemental analytical results for stream sediments and ground water. The samples were collected as part of the SRL-NURE reconnaissance in the National Topographic Map Series (NTMS) Mesa 10 x 2 quadrangle. Results are reported for 24 elements (Ag, As, Ba, Be, Ca, Co, Cr, Cu, K, Li, Mg, Mo, Nb, Ni, P, Pb, Se, Sn, Sr, Th, W, Y, Zn, and extractable U) in sediments and 31 elements (Ag, Al, As, B, Ba, Be, Ca, Ce, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Nb, Ni, P, Sc, Se, Si, Sr, Th, Ti, V, Y, Zn, and Zr) as well as pH, alkalinity, and conductivity in ground water. Field data and NAA data will be open-filed when they are available.

Uranium Potential in Precambrian Conglomerates of the Central Arizona Arch: Final Report (open access)

Uranium Potential in Precambrian Conglomerates of the Central Arizona Arch: Final Report

From purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the Precambrian conglomerates of central Arizona in sufficient depth to determine whether they contain any obvious uranium concentrations and whether their geologic environment of deposition was permissive or prohibitive of conditions favoring uranium concentration.

Geology and Recognition Criteria for Veinlike Uranium Deposits of the Lower to Middle Proterozoic Unconformity and Strata-Related Types: Final Report (open access)

Geology and Recognition Criteria for Veinlike Uranium Deposits of the Lower to Middle Proterozoic Unconformity and Strata-Related Types: Final Report

From synopsis: The discovery of the Rabbit Lake deposit, Saskatchewan, in 1968 and the East Alligator Rivers district, Northern Territory, Australia, in 1970 established the Lower-Middle Proterozoic veinlike-type deposits as one of the major types of uranium deposits. The term "veinlike" is used herein for this type of deposit in order to distinguish it from the classical magmatic-hydrothermal "vein" or "veintype" deposits. The veinlike deposits exhibit distinct geologic features and are now known to include the largest and the richest uranium deposits of the world. At present they account for between a quarter and a third of the Western World's proven uranium reserves.
