This following report discusses the studies and findings of the East Chaco Canyon drilling project of northwestern New Mexico. These studies took place between July and November of 1978.

Introduction: This report is a brief review of the uranium and/or vanadium mining in the eastern Carrizo Mountains, San Juan County, New Mexico and Apache County, Arizona. It was prepared at the request of the Navajo Tribe, the New Mexico Energy and Minerals Department, and the Arizona Bureau of Geology and Mineral Technology. As this report deals only with historical production data, the reader is referred to reports by Blagbrough and Brown (1955), Masters and others (1955), and Stokes (1951, 1954) for descriptions of the geology and ore deposits. Figure 1 shows the locations of the mines and the production is summarized in Table 1 and Figure 2. A separate report (Chenoweth and Learned, 1980) covers the production history of the northern and western Carrizo Mountains.

This report is an issue of the original draft copy of the "Interim Staff Report on Uranium Exploration on the Colorado Plateau", dated June 1951. The original draft copy was only recently located and is being published at this time because of the interest in the contained historical content.

A report describing the results of a detailed hydrogeochemical survey directed by the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory of well waters in parts of the Saint Johns and Socorro Quadrangles.

This report discusses uranium findings from a reconnaissance of the Gallup NTMS quadrangle through water, sediment, and water samples collected from streams, springs, and wells.

From introduction: "The U.S. Geological Survey began a 5-year study of the High Plains regional aquifer during the 1978 to provide the hydrologic information needed for the development of computer models to evaluate the aquifer's response to ground-water management alternatives." It contains maps, graphs, and tables.

Report documenting results of analysis for airborne gamma radiation and total magnetic field survey for the Hobbs National Topographic Map Sheet (NI 13-12). It includes data calculations and profiled data readings with a general description of the area and corresponding data readings.

As stated in the introduction, "included in this report are discussions of the geology and geography of the study area, its potash mining history, and current and projected market conditions in the potash industry" (p. 2).
