Study of Clay Shale Slopes Along the Panama Canal, Report 3: Engineering Analyses of Slides and Strength Properties of Clay Shales Along the Gaillard Cut
"The results of the engineering studies and analyses which provide guidance on shear strength parameters applicable to the stability evaluation of existing slopes along the Gaillard Cut, the effects of future modifications, and evaluation of newly excavated slopes in clay shales are summarized in this report" (abstract). This report includes the appendices containing enginering data, characteristics of materials, analysis of past slides, active slopes, and hydrographic survey data.

On November 16, 2003, President George W. Bush formally notified Congress of his intention to negotiate a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) with Panama. Negotiations commenced in April 2004 and eight rounds have been held, the latest concluded in February 2005. Since then, talks have stalled but could resume by year-end 2005.

Agriculture in Pending U.S. Free Trade Agreements with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea
The 111th Congress in coming months might take up free trade agreements (FTAs) signed by the Bush Administration with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea under trade promotion authority, or fast-track rules, designed to expedite congressional consideration of these agreements. Accordingly, agriculture as covered in each pending trade agreement is examined in this report in the order that Congress likely will take up these agreements, based upon statements made to date by Obama Administration officials and Members of Congress.
