Machine for Cleaning Seed-Cotton.

Patent for an improved machine that cleans and transfers seed cotton to a gin. It combines exhaust fans and a cleaning mechanism, and is less expensive than similar machines.

Roll Box for Cotton Gins.

Patent for a new and improved roll-box for cotton gins. This design "is to provide for a cleaning of the seed-cotton at its first stage of ginning, and thus prepare the same for a more effectual cleaning at the second stage of the process after the same leaves the saws" (lines 24-28). It consists, "with the gin-ribs and the revolving saws working between said ribs, of an unyielding perforated breast-board arranged in front of said ribs and a supplemental perforated cleaning-board above said ribs opposite said breast-board, forming an inclosed seed-cotton chamber" (lines 73-79).

Dry-Kiln Furnace.

Patent for improvements in dry-kiln furnaces by using “a series of furnaces alternating with a series of heating or radiating drums parallel to and on a plane above the furnace,” (Lines 116-119, p. 2) and valved connected flues. This arrangement allowed the “heat being regulated and so distributed through the kiln as to produce a varying temperature, highest at the end where the lumber is introduced and gradually diminishing toward the opposite end, where it is taken out.” (Lines 21-26) Illustration is included.
