Patent for an improved back-band buckle and an improved hook that connects the buckle with the trace-chain. The lever-hook snaps "into position and is held secure in a pane substantially flush with the lower portion of the buckle-frame when the buckle is closed by the forcing down of the lever" (lines 15-19).

Patent for a new and improved channel cleaner. This design "is to construct an apparatus which may be anchored in a channel where there are sand-bars, for the purpose of agitating the water and stirring up the sand, so that the current may remove it. [The] invention consists in a trunk or large tube perforated along the bottom and provided at one end with a flaring mouth for concentrating the current within the trunk; also, in the combination, with the trunk, of a stirrer and a motor-screw for driving the same" (lines 17-28).

Patent for "a machine for separating the valuable fibrous portions of the stems of the plants of the jute, ramie, flax, and hemp, and like varieties from refuse matter and preparing the same for use with the least possible injury and waste" (lines 10-15).

Patent for "a means whereby the strings of a piano may be easily and deliberately tuned, and when tuned they will be held absolutely rigid and unyielding under all circumstances while the pins are set in wood, thus avoiding any possibility of the jarring of the parts." This design consists in "[a]n improved back-band buckle with hooks, consisting of a body portion formed of a single piece of wrought-wire, the meeting ends of each bent downward, upward, outward, and again downward to form chain-holding hooks or loops, and the tongues pivoted upon the said body portion" (lines 89-95).

Patent for a rope fire escape "in the form of a harpoon to which a chord or rope is attached, said device being projected from a gun or by any other means against the burning building with sufficient force to embed itself therein so that any suitable apparatus may be elevated to the building necessary for the escape of the inmates or so that the person or persons may descend by the rope attached to the harpoon" (lines 14-22).

Patent for certain new and useful improvements in packing for piston rods and the like, including instructions and illustrations.

Patent for a fire-escape that uses ropes and pulleys held up by brackets and attached to a window. A receptacle is at the end of the rope and is designed to lower people from the building to the ground.

Patent for a fire escape "with a cord or rope of suitable length which has at one end a weight to serve as a projectile to facilitate throwing the cord or rope to a person at any part of the burning building, after which the fire-escape or other device necessary for the purpose may be conveniently elevated to the window or other portion of the building where most needed for the rescue of person or property" (lines 14-22). It is adapted to assist firemen.

Patent for a flower pot trellis which is used "to be applied to flower-pots of various sizes to support plants or vines without interfering with their roots" (p.2).

Patent for "a compress having a continuous operation, whereby one bale of cotton is being formed by the compress all the time the same is working, and thereby rendering it unnecessary to completely stop the working of the entire press for every single bale made until the bale can be wrapped and discharged out of the press."
