Patent for a steam-engine that has "no dead-center" (lines 15-16), and "a volume of one full port will always be exerted on a piston" (lines 18-19). "The full power of the steam will be applied when the crank is on the quarter and there is the greatest leverage in favor of the engine" (lines 21-24). Steam supply is regulated automatically and has a shutoff system in case anything breaks.

Printing Attachment for Letter-Boxes.

Patent for a printing attachment for letter-boxes where people can postmark the mail they want to be sent. It fist on any street letter-box. The attachment is a case with stamps for every day of the month and the location of the town, city, or post-office the letter is being collected to, and there is a pocket below where one slips the package or envelope to mark it. An inking-pad is also in the pocket for the stamps, which can be used by pulling a lever.

Patent for a stock-guard meant for use in railway-tracks. It has many beveled caps, "each having a flange or projection on one side, and adapted to fit over the cross-ties" (lines 46-18). There are also slats, each with a flange on its upper edge, and the slats are arranged between the caps.

Patent for a gate that relates to a patent (no. 363,964) granted to the inventor, which is a gate opener that operates by pulling a chord connected to a mechanism that swings the gate open and closes upon release. The current patent simplifies the previous invention. The operator pulls a chord which makes the gate swivel on a central point. When the chord is released, the gate swivels back into place.

Patent for an improvement on a quilting attachment for sewing-machines previously granted to the inventors (no. 529,518). This patent is an improvement on "the general construction of the device, to provide simple means for adjusting the elevation of the track at its extremities to vary the inclination thereof and for securing the upper ends of the supporting devices to a stationary object, such as the ceiling, and to provide means for adjusting the inclination of the traveler-bar of the hanger to suit that of the track" (lines 14-23).
