Patent for "a machine of this class which shall be simple in construction, inexpensive, durable, and easily operated" (lines 11-14).

Patent for a new and improved baling press. This design consists "of the base-plate, the casing made in two trough-shaped sections . . . one of which is hinged to the base-plate the bifurcated uprights, the operating-levers on each side hinged to the uprights, the compressing-beam extending across the baling-chamber and through the uprights, and connections between the compressing-beam and the levers" (lines 92-100).

Patent for "a means whereby with one motion a stamp will be supplied from the'apparatus, moistened, and placed in position upon a letter, wrapper, or parcel adapted to receive it, and wherein a number of stamps may be consecutively placed when and as desired" (lines 10-15).

Patent for a new and improved girder. This design is "composed of a vertical web and a flange or flanges, a mass of the metal in a flange or flanges projecting from the web at and near one-half the distance between the axis and the neutral line" (lines 48-53).

Patent for improvements in wood distillers "wherein the liquids of the woods are extracted by subjection in a closed heated chamber or retort and carried by vaporization through the process of distillation to condensation" (lines 18-22).

Patent for "a single structure in which the airbrake pipes and steam-heating pipes will be coupled together when the cars are coupled, and in which the several parts will be very compactly arranged. A further object is to provide means whereby the cars may be uncoupled by the use of compressed air" (lines 12-19).

Patent for "improved door-check for retaining the door in any desired open position. . . of very simple construction controlled by connection with the knob of the door" (lines 8-13).

Patent for "new and improved horse-power, which will operate four or less hay-presses by the movement of one operating-lever, and which can be used for a great variety of other purposes" (lines 8-12).

Patent for a more easily constructible "bridge the pillar or roadway of which is adjustable to different heights, and to meet certain contingencies and while adjustable as a whole is also adjustable at any point whatsoever, whereby the roadway may be maintained level regardless of the yielding of certain portions of the structure" (lines 11-17).

Patent for a new and improved washing machine. This design consists in "the combination, with a receptacle having a flange on one end, of a pump, a collar surrounding the said pump and carrying claws which engage and a cam which bears upon the said flange, a perforated tray resting upon the bottom of the receptacle, and perforated pipes connected with the said pump, the said pump and pipes being contained in the said receptacle" (lines 4-12).

Patent for a new and improved fence-making tool. This design consists in "[t]he combination of the hooks, the bars between the same, the plate connecting the ends of the hooks and provided with the claw, the lever pivoted between the hooks and having the offset and carrying a supplemental lever, and a lever having one end adapted to be inserted between the hooks, and provided on one edge with a stud" (lines 84-92).

Patent for a new and improved flour bin and sifter. This design consists in "[a] bin having sleeves secured thereto at opposite sides and removable screening and sifting mechanism provided with similar sleeves, and two-prong pins engaging said sleeves for connecting the sifting and screening mechanism to the bin, the said pins being arranged with their heads in opposite directions" (lines 20-27).

Patent for "a dredger which shall in an improved manner co-operate with and utilize the current in removing accumulations from the bed of channels" (lines 13-17).

Patent for "a plow of simple and durable construction,capable of easy manipulation, and wherein the point may be expeditiously removed or replaced when necessary. A further object of the invention is to provide a means whereby the plow-beam maybe raised or lowered at will" (lines 10-16).

Patent for a new and improved bug sprayer. This design consists in "the combination of the body of the bellows and the perforate wall or sieve arranged longitudinally therein, dividing the bellows into two compartments, with a nozzle or an air-outlet communicating with one compartment, whereby material placed in the other compartment on the opposite side of the sieve is agitated by the operation of the bellows and delivered to the air-blast in a comminuted state" (lines 25-35).

Patent for a new and improved curtain fixture. This design "consist[s] of the brackets secured to the window-frame, and a frame consisting of a single continuous integral U-shaped bar having its arms bent outward from its shoulders . . . and having the end of one of its arms pivoted to the adjacent bracket and the end of the other arm bent laterally and journaled in the other bracket, the curtain-roller being journaled in and extending between the arms" (lines 60-69).

Patent for a new and improved cotton elevator. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a frame, a suction-pipe having one end bent downward to receive the seed cotton and the other end terminating in an upwardly-extending dust flue, and a suction-fan having its suction and discharge at the periphery, of a perforated screening-cylinder, an endless belt which co-acts with the cylinder to deflect the cotton into the discharge pipe, and a blowing-fan in the latter for forcing the seed-cotton to the gins" (lines 48-58).
