Patent for a new and improved cotton chopper. This design consists in "wheels, axles, shafts, and plow-beams of a cultivator, of the bar pivoted to the plow-beams, the lever-handle pivoted to the bar, the hoe on the lower end of the lever handle, the [other] shaft, the cam on said shaft, the jointed lever having its forward end forked and its rear end slotted, the gear wheels, the clutch, the [other] lever, and the catch" (lines 66-74).

Patent for a new and improved box-car door fastener and spark arrester. This design consists in "the door, the screws extending therefrom, the strips having the inclined slots received on the screws, and provided with the projections, the lever pivoted on the screws outside the strip, stops on the lever to engage the projections, and means--such as cord--for locking the lever" (lines 4-11).

Patent for a new and improved cotton scraper. This design consists in "the vertical standard having the horizontal reardwardly-extending arm at its lower end, the cotton-scraper attached to the said arm and extending rearwardly and outwardly therefrom, and having the upturned curved broadened rear end forming the blade, and the clip-bolts and clamping-plate to secure the standard to the plow-standard and permit the said standard to be vertically adjusted" (lines 82-91).

Patent for a new and improved ironing board. This design consists in "the rigid supporting-frame of an ironing-table, a cross-piece secured to the outside of the upper ends of the supports at one end of the frame, so that its upper edge shall project above the supports, an ironing-board top hinged to one side of the cross-piece, and a shelf secured to the upper edge and projecting to the opposite side of said cross-piece" (lines 86-94).

Patent for a new and improved pump. This design "is to provide an engine or apparatus . . . in pumps of that class known as "force-pumps" . . . which is simple and durable in construction, and which is of large working capacity. . . . [The design] attain[s] the purposes of [the] invention by . . . the pump-buckets or caging and that part of the delivering-pipe containing the . . . valves in the plungers . . . [and] the ball-valves" (lines 9-28).

Patent for a machine that easily calculates the number of days within a given time span, up to one year, with illustrations.

Patent for a new and improved balanced slide-valve. This design consists in a "Steam-chest, a valve sliding therein, a chamber on top of the steam-chest, and a diaphragm in the top of the chamber and secured by a cap or plate, in combination with a frame having a packing-box and gland, an adjustable threaded stem or bolt passing through the frame, and the double-link connection between the said stem and valve" (lines 90-97).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists in "hinged jaws, draw-bars provided with a pin-hole . . . the jaws acting to support the pin until forced apart by the link, a hinged lever, a plate pivoted to said lever, said pin being attached to said plate, and an operating chain or rod connected to said plate for raising said pin" (lines 29-36).

Patent for a new and improved pump. This design is "to provide a novel, simple, and efficient double-acting balanced pump of such construction and mode of operation that the power required to operate it is only such as is requisite to lift the quantity of water discharged at each stroke" (lines 8-13).

Patent for a new and improved hay-press. This design consists in "the frame having the pulley, the follower having the pulleys, and the shaft having the loose drums . . . means for locking either of the said drums to the said shaft, the rope attached to the drum and passing over the pulley with which the follower is provided, and secured to an immovable object, and the rope attached to the drum, passed over the pulley and attached to the follower" (lines 27-35).

Patent for mechanizing and streamlining the steps involved in loading a cartridge.

Patent for a new and improved car-window lock. This design consists in "the sliding crank-shaped spring-actuated bolt for locking the window, in combination with the oscillating cam acting upon the bolt to unlock it, said cam having a lateral arm with a spring-guide hinged thereto, a spring surrounding the guide, and means for swinging the cam and thus retracting the bolt" (lines 21-27).

Patent for a new and improved cork extractor. This design consists, "with the side-slitted cork, of the double-wire extractor having loop ends engaging the slits of the cork and extending beyond the same and the securing-wire passing through said loop ends and around the shoulder of the bottle-neck" (lines 47-52).

Patent for a new and improved planter. This design consists in "the frame, the wheels, the axle provided with the fingers, and the spout attached to the under side of the frame, of the hopper having a slot in its bottom decreasing in width from its forward to its rear end, plates, adjustably secured to the bottom of the hopper, the vertical shaft journaled in the hopper, and the horizontal arms on the said shaft" (lines 92-100).

Patent for a new and improved laundry boiler. This design consists in "a partition at its lower end slightly above the bottom formed with a screw-threaded neck at its center, a perforated tube fitting with its lower end upon the neck and having its upper end closed, and a number of perforated triangular tubes upon the side of the boiler provided with stoppers at their upper ends and extending from the partition in the lower end of the boiler, and a rack consisting of rings connected at their upper edges by cross-pieces" (lines 76-86).
