Car-Brake.

Patent for a car brake that has independent brake shoes and brake pressure is equally applied to all the wheels of the truck. The invention is meant to "obtain in a car brake of this class a central transmission of the applied brake power to the different groups of brake mechanism whereby the brake power is distributed equally to each wheel and the brakes are not only rendered more stable and certain in their operation, but are better adapted for the application of either hand or air brake or pressure" (lines 22-31). The brake shoes are operated by a lever that is suspended from the truck body and pivots.

Patent for a combined shoot-board and squaring-box meant to square and shave "the edges of stereotype and other printing plates; ant to this end the invention contemplates a device of this character that will be of an exceedingly simple and comparatively inexpensive construction, while at the same time providing for an easy and accurate manipulation of the plates being operated upon" (lines 10-17).

Mosquito Net Frame.

Patent for a new and improved mosquito-net frame. This design "has for its object to provide a frame . . . capable of convenient attachment to or of detachment from any bedstead, and which when attached will be firmly braced and firmly held against lateral movement" (lines 9-14). It consists, "with the standards having tenons at their upper ends, the rear and side bars having eyes receiving said tenons, and a front bar connecting the front ends of bars, of the horizontal angle-plates mounted at their rear ends on the ends of the bar" (lines 22-28).

Cattle-Guard for Railroads.

Patent for an improved and inexpensive railroad cattle-guard that "can be readily secured to the road-bed of a railroad, as well as easily removed therefrom, as in case of needed repair, or for other purposes" (lines 19-22). The invention provides an uneven surface for the cattle to walk on.
