Patent for a car coupling that operates automatically and without causing danger to the railway employees. It operates by a lever on the side or top of the car.

Patent for an axle lubricator that continuously lubricates an axle through a hollow nut in the end of the hub bushing, and the oil cup can be refilled easily and without removing the wheel.

Patent for a buckle meant for use with harnesses and "wherein the ordinary movable and hinged tongue is dispensed with, and a rigid stud or pointed projection is used in reversed positions at opposite ends of connecting loops" (lines 9-13).

Patent for an inexpensive and simply constructed corn and cotton planter that has an "improved mechanism for transmitting motion from the drive-wheel to the seed-disk; to so construct said mechanism as to operate only when the planter is being advanced and to remain inoperative when being drawn backward; to provide for a change of speed for the seed-disk so as to plant close together or far apart as may be desired; and to provide a new and improved hood or protector for the gear connection between the drive-wheel and the power-transmitting mechanism, which hood may be readily cast and will preserve the mechanism at this point against the deleterious actions of dust and other gritty matter that would otherwise find its way therein" (lines 11-26).

Patent for an underground conduit electric railway meant to propel cars. The conduit can be drained and kept dry, and a trolley attachment protects the conduit from dirt and water as well.

Patent for "a simple system and arrangement which is especially adapted for a telephone exchange, which enables the instruments to be connected by a single wire, which dispenses with the use of an operator at the central station, which has automatic means for registering the messages sent by each subscriber, and which is provided with an automatic switching device by means of which one subscriber may connect with any other" (lines 10-19).

Patent for a baling press that holds the material in the press while it is being formed into a bale. It consists of a frame with notches in the back, a resistance bar that pivots across the back of the frame, a latch that holds the bar in place, and a pin to pin the bar to the latch.

Patent for a car brake that has independent brake shoes and brake pressure is equally applied to all the wheels of the truck. The invention is meant to "obtain in a car brake of this class a central transmission of the applied brake power to the different groups of brake mechanism whereby the brake power is distributed equally to each wheel and the brakes are not only rendered more stable and certain in their operation, but are better adapted for the application of either hand or air brake or pressure" (lines 22-31). The brake shoes are operated by a lever that is suspended from the truck body and pivots.

Patent for a desk with an attached paper-holder that allows for easier transcription.

Patent for a combined copy-holder and tablet meant for record keeping. The invention's purposes are to "produce a convenient device designed to be employed ether upon the lap of the operator or upon a counter or other convenient support, and to maintain in position for writing a web of paper, thus requiring no holding of the same by the operator; to provide means for conveniently paying out said web of paper as the same is used or consumed; to provide for conveniently tearing the paper from the web into lengths convenient to the operator; to provide for a simple retention and support in a removable manner of the roll upon which the web is mounted; and finally for a support of the device in an inclined position convenient for transcribing notes therefrom" (lines 13-28).

Patent for a churn that can be easily operated and does not let flies or dust collect around its top. It is operated by turning a handle which is connected via a rope and a series of pulleys to the churn.

Patent for "a combined stalk cutter and cultivating machine comprising a rotary stalk cutter and a gang of plows and it consists in the features of construction and novel combination of devices in a machine adapted for the various kinds of agricultural work" (lines 9-15).

Patent for an elliptic seat spring on a wagon that is "arranged longitudinally on the front of the wagon-box, for the purpose of taking up the jar and jolt of wagons in passing over rough places in the roads" (lines 15-18). The springs will stay in place once installed.

Patent for a simple and durable lifting jack for wagons that is easily operated and does not move the hoisting lever in the post.

Patent for "improvements in the running gear of draft wagons, and has for its objects to provide a novel, simple device for the support of the wagon tongue, and an improved means for obviating friction between the coupling pole of the vehicle, and the slide bar on the front hounds of the wagon running gear" (lines 8-15).

Patent for a trunk meant for traveling that holds clothes and small articles. The trunk has "novel adjunctive features, which will render it more convenient, and better adapted for the stowage and removal of various articles of wear and use" (lines 11-14).

Patent for a simple and effective apparatus that utilizes wave power. It consists of a frame with a casing on the top that extends from the normal trough to crest lines of waves, a float, a pump with the center below the float, a discharge pipe connected to the pump, anchors and braces for the pump, a joint that connects the pump with a pile, guide rolls, and inlets and outlets on opposite sides of the pump.

Patent for an improved and practical stalk cutter that cuts corn or cotton stalks at their roots "while the machine is drawn along a row of the standing stalks, and simultaneously reduce[s] the latter to small pieces which can be plowed under the soil and serve as a fertilizer, the complete reduction of the stalks to fine fragments adapting them for quick decomposition and prevent them from becoming and obstruction to a plow or harrow used to till the soil" (lines 12-20).

Patent for a tongue support that lessens the weight and wearing of the tongue on the horse's neck. The spring is made of steel, is two or more coils, and sits on the tongue rod. The spring's firmness is adjustable, and only enough weight to hold the tongue in place is put on the animal.

Patent for a plow that has "a mold-board of independently-yielding bars and the upper end thereof mounted upon yielding supports so that better results are attained and the earth broken up as it is thrown up by the point and turned aside and completely over as soon as it comes in contact with the said wires or spring rods" (lines 12-19). The mold board can easily be changed.

Patent for pliers that has one jaw fitted with ribs and the other with grooves. This allows the pliers to clamp onto and kink a wire in an improved way.

Patent for a simple, inexpensive, and effective nut-lock that can be easily installed and locks the nuts on rail joints into place and can be easily removed.

Patent for a simple, inexpensive, and durable sulky-plow "that will avoid the collection of trash, weeds, grass, &c., and thereby will not clog; that is designed to run upon the unplowed ground and therefore retain the plow in a steady position; to provide an improved adjusting means for plows whereby the same may be set to run shallow or deep; and to adapt the plow for successfully operating upon hillsides or rolling ground" (lines 12-20).

Patent for a machine that is meant to file circular saws. The invention files "saws while mounted side-by side upon a saw arbor, as cotton gin saws usually are; means for moving the file carriage along upon the frame of the machine to locate it in front of the individual saws which are to be filed; means for raising and carrying the file over the saws when the carriage is to be moved; means for securing the file sash on the file carriage and of securing the file carriage upon the main frame by a single act; and means for converting a continuous rotary feed motion of the saws while being filed, to an intermittent motion which rotates the saws step-by-step from tooth to tooth" (lines 15-28).
