Patent for a new and improved cotton chopper. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the hoe, of a standard, fulcrumed to a hinged adjustable bar, and connected by mechanism[s] with the ground-wheel" (lines 77-80).

Patent for bed spring.

Patent for a new and improved car brake. This design "consists in a novel combination and arrangement of certain mechanical appliances by means of which the brakes of a railway-car are automatically operated by the pushing and pulling action of the draw-head, and which are applicable to any ordinary system of brake-levers and without interfering with the operation of the ordinary hand-brake" (lines 10-17).

Patent for a new and improved colter attachment for plows. This design "consists of a slicing colter or knife attachments to the mold-board, the object of which is to slit or cut the furrow-slice into narrow strips at the same time that it is turned up by the mold-board" (lines 7-11).

Patent for "a cotton chopper, the combination, with the wheeled vehicle, of the side and central section-bars carrying the inclined knives, the handles secured to the central section, and double rack connecting said handles, the adjusting-levers pivoted to the central section, and the pivoted perforated arms connecting the levers and outer section bars" (lines 40-47).

Patent for a new and improved animal trap. This design "consists in the combination of a suitable frame upon which a revolver or pistol is secured, a treadle which is secured to the front end of this frame, and a suitable spring and levers, by which the fire-arm is discharged when the animal steps upon the treadle" (lines 14-20).

Patent for a new and improved train station indicator. This design calls for two drums or rollers around which a banner with the different train station names and phrases written sequentially. A hand crank turns the drums, moving the banner to the desired name or phrase, as well as ringing a bell to alert passengers.

Patent for a new and improved ventilator for grain, etc. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the tubes, of the protecting end caps, consisting of a base-plate, by which it may be secured to the structure, and provided with a central opening, in which the ends of the tubes are adjusted, and a semi-cone . . . [also] [t]he combination, with the structure provided, with transverse ventilating-tubes projecting on the outside of the structure, of the . . . protecting caps" (lines 88-97).

Patent for a new and improved hand sawing-machine. This design "relates to improvements in hand sawing-machines in which a vertically-movable frame-work supporting the driving mechanism operates in conjunction with a horizontally-reciprocating cross-head for carrying the saw; and the object of [the] improvements is to provide a portable hand-power machine for the rapid cutting of stove-wood, and for other light sawing" (lines 8-16).

Patent for a new and improved snap hook. This design "consists in a hook provided with a sliding latch on the shank and on the end of the hook, whereby this hook will remain closed in whatever position it is placed" (lines 11-14).

Patent for a seed-planter, with illustrations. The "invention relates to an improved seed-planter, adapted to be attached to and operated in connection with any ordinary plow for planting wheat, corn, cotton, or other seed (line 25-28).

Patent for a new and improved sign. This design consists in "the combination of a frame or bed and a transparent plate set in the same, having the letter-color or gilt on its inner face, and a filling applied upon its front face to form the margins of the letter . . . [and] the wooden body, provided with a recess, in its front face, of the strip of glass gilded, silvered, or painted on its back face and inlaid in said recess, and a filling on its front face to form the margins of the letters . . . [and] the separate pieces or panes of glass, one for each letter of the sign" (lines 84-101).

Patent for a new and improved combination lock. This design "consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the slotted bolt, follower, and follower-shaft, the elongated bolt-stop pivoted in the slot of the bolt, the radially-slotted disks having concentric stems on the follower-shaft, and the lettered or figured and graduated stem-caps engaging the respective stems by means of circular series of teeth" (lines 20-27).
