Patent for a new and improved cuff holder. This design "is chiefly to render cuffs hitherto buttoned to shirt-sleeves as readily attached or buttoned to coat-sleeves, in order that they may be removed from the wearer's person together with the coat to prevent the cuffs being soiled; and its object is also to avoid unbuttoning and buttoning cuffs to the shirt by means of the usual cuff-attaching buttons" (lines 24-32).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists "[i]n a car-coupling, the combination of a recessed draw-head having abutments . . . and a transverse ridge, of a link adapted to rock on said ridge, a pivoted coupling-hook carrying a diagonally-projecting pin near its forward end, and a spiral spring arranged diagonally above the coupling-hook and surrounding said pin" (lines 93-100).

Patent for a new and improved cotton chopper. This design "consists in combining with a frame a roller of any desired width and size having one or more slots or openings in its periphery, and so mounted as to roll over and crush the stand of cotton, except those portions which enter the slots or openings referred to, which regulate the distance apart at which the portions of the stand are left remaining" (lines 19-27).

Patent for a new and improved irrigation machine. This design "consists in an irrigating-pipe having lapped side joints and notches in the inner edges of the lapped joints. The invention also consists in the combination, with a tank, of a trough below it, tubes projecting from the trough, and irrigating-pipes connected with the said tubes" (lines 12-18).

Patent for a new and improved bedstead. This design consists of a frame with tension wires "extending diagonally across the bed-frame to the side pieces thereof at points intermediate between the corner posts, and independent tension devices to which the ends of the wire are connected, whereby a longitudinal and lateral strain is exerted upon the bed-frame when the wires are adjusted" (lines 1-7).

Patent for Bailing Press including illustrations. The purpose of the bailing press was to improve "the bailing-press especially adapted for bailing cotton, which press is simple in construction, strong and durable, and operates rapidly" ( lines 9-12).

Patent for a new and improved ant trap. This design consists "[i]n an ant-trap, the combination, with a trough formed with a top [that is] flanged . . . of a box connected thereto by a tube terminating in a disk . . . [and] of the connecting-tubes, box, and fence" (lines 62-68).

Patent for a new and improved lock. This design consists "[i]n a lock, the combination of the latch, the spring pressing upon it, and the trip-lever, provided with upper and lower arms and the former serving as a seat for the spring and the latter having a projection for the key to act upon" (lines 97-102).

Patent for a new and improved water-elevator. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with endless chains having links provided with staples, of the buckets having apertured side flanges through which the staples pass, and fastenings passing through the staple in front of the apertured side flanges to hold the buckets in place" (lines 90-96).

Patent for a mold to be used in the construction of concrete walls, including illustrations and instructions.

Patent for a new and improved post-hole digger. This design is "compris[ed of] an operating handle having a series of radial horizontal wings provided on their lower faces with downwardly-projecting flanges, cutting-blades having horizontal slotted arms at their upper ends adapted to fit between the flanges of the wings, said cutting-blades having their lower ends pointed or bent and curved inwardly and transversely, to bring the cutting edge of one blade out of the plane of rotation of the rear blunt edge of the preceding blade, and adjusting bolts and nuts" (lines 7-18).

Patent for a new and improved harrow and rake attachment for plows and cultivators. This design consists in "[t]he combination, in a rake or harrow attachment for plows, of a clamp provided with a curved perforated shoe, and adapted to be secured to the standard of one beam, a rake or harrow secured at one end to said shoe, a bar, means for connecting the same to a second beam, the lower end of said bar being connected to the other end of the rake or harrow" (lines 94-102).

Patent for a new and improved hat and towel holder. This design is "compris[ed of] a base-piece . . . having arms and a cylinder cast in one piece therewith, the arms and cylinder being arranged in a horizontal position near each end of the base-plate, and connected together at their outer ends by the vertical arm, and a plunger provided with the finger-piece having a coiled spring arranged in said cylinder, and adapted to bear against the base-plate to provide a support for the coat or towel" (lines 7-17).

Patent for a new and improved gate latch. This design consists "[i]n a gate-catch, the combination, with the gate and post of a cylinder having perforated lugs and removable heads, a locking-bolt, working in the cylinder and projecting above the plane of the gate, the said rod having a reduced portion or shoulder, a squared portion, and a right-angled locking foot, a spring arranged in the cylinder and secured at one end to the locking-bolt, and a horizontal catch-plate having beveled side edges and perforated lugs for securing the plate to the post" (lines 63-73).

Patent for a new and improved washing machine. This design consists "in a washing-machine, the combination, with the furnace, of the box, having the semicircularly-curved top, of the cylindrical cage and the flues in the box" (lines 87-90).

Patent for a new and improved washing machine. This design consists "[i]n a washing machine, the combination, with the trough, of the casing secured to one end thereof, the rotating steam-chamber, and the shaft provided with the diaphragm and arranged to take steam in one end, deliver the same through the openings to the steam-chamber, and exhaust through the boxing and opening on the outer side of the diaphragm" (lines 39-47).

Patent for a new and improved running gear for wagons. This design "consists, primarily, in an axle provided with a spring attachment or cushion-brace or strain-distributer of sufficient strength connected to the axle, either directly or through the skein, to counteract the strain caused by the super-incumbent weight or by any violence to which the axle may be subjected" (lines 24-31).

Patent for a new and improved railroad spike. This design consists in "[a] spike for securing a railroad-rail, having a lower portion, having a shoulder, and a right-angular arm for resting against the base-flange of a rail, and the arm or extension" (lines 60-64).

Patent for a new and improved drag-saw. This design "consist[s] of a standard, two beams connected to the standard on opposite sides thereof, a crank-shaft held by the standard, suitable drive-gearing for operating the same, a pitman connecting the crank-shaft and the saw, a pendulum attached to the saw and the pitman at one end and to a sliding head-block at the other end, the head-block sliding in the slotted standards and having a rack-bar extended therefrom, a pawl engaging the rack, the operating-cord attached to the head-block and passing over a guide-pulley on the slotted standards" (lines 4-16).

Patent for a new and improved door-check. This design "consists in the combination, with a jaw provided with a pocket having an opening in its bottom, of a pivoted bar having a bead or nipple, which bar is passed through the pocket, and of a spring held in the pocket jaw and resting on the bar" (lines 12-17).

Patent for an improvement on the Surveyor's instrument, included with illustrations.

Patent for a new and improved calculator. This design "consists in having a central disk provided on each side with a disk somewhat smaller, the three being pivoted centrally, so that the smaller disks on the sides may be rotated independently of the central disk. The central disk has twelve or more marginal figures on each side, equidistant from each other, and a column of figures extending inwardly from each marginal figure" (lines 19-27).
