This design consists in "[t]he combination of a shank provided with a conveying-screw and the cutters at the lower end of the screw, the sides of the cutters being extended beyond a vertical line drawn across the edges of the screw, and a tube or casing enclosing the screw and connected at its lower end with the cutters, said tube being of less diameter than the cutters and arranged within the outer sides thereof" (lines 56-64).

Patent for a new and improved bobbin-winder for sewing machines. This design consists in "the combination, with the shaft provided with a screw-threaded aperture at one end and having a groove formed near the other end, and a carrying pulley, of the spindle provided with a threaded extension entering said screw-threaded aperture of the shaft, said spindle having a taper and made of highly tempered metal" (lines 66-73).

Patent for "a planter that shall be self-covering and adjustable as to the transverse and longitudinal space between the hills and rows, and which at the same time may be regulated as to the amount of material fed at each throw of the seed-slide, and which will also mark off the adjacent row as the machine advances" (lines 10-16).

Patent for a new and improved "culinary utensil primarily intended for use as a coffee roaster, but also . . . of any article which needs to be stirred while upon the fire" (lines 12-16). This design utilizes a crankshaft to stir the beans (or other foods) as they roast.

Patent relating to a method for removing contaminants on a substrate.

This invention is comprised of a tool for installing a gasket and a snap ring including a shaft, a first plate attached to the forward end of the shaft, a second plate slidably carried by the shaft, a spring disposed about the shaft between the first and second plates, and a sleeve that is free to slide over the shaft and engage the second plate. The first plate has a loading surface with a loading groove for receiving a snap ring and a shoulder for holding a gasket. A plurality of openings are formed through the first plate, communicating with the loading groove and approximately equally spaced about the groove. A plurality of rods are attached to the second plate, each rod slidable in one of the openings. In use, the loaded tool is inserted into a hollow pipe or pipe fitting having an internal flange and an internal seating groove, such that the gasket is positioned against the flange and the ring is in the approximate plane of the seating groove. A method and apparatus for controlling the temperature of a thermionic reactor over a wide range of operating power, including a thermionic reactor having a plurality of integral cesium reservoirs, a honeycomb material disposed about the reactor which has a plurality of separated cavities, a solid sheath disposed about the honeycomb material and having an opening therein communicating with the honeycomb material and cavities thereof, and a shell disposed about the sheath for creating a coolant annulus therewith so that the coolant in the annulus may fill the cavities and permit nucleate boiling during the operation of the reactor.

Also, a provision of a novel mounting and operating means for such a gate, including springs for raising the operating levers on the gate used to move the gate.

Patent for an improved rotary earth boring drill that can bore through formations to dig wells. The drill can be removable and replaceable when its condition is worn. The drill also has flushing channels for when the head is boring into the ground.

Patent for a hammer handle with an inner reinforcing plate which is strong and slightly flexible, so as to "be practically unbreakable" (lines 25-26) and "afford the necessary yielding action or spring to avoid jarring the hands of the operator while in use" (lines 26-29). Application of the design principle to other similar tools, such as "hatchets, axes, shovels, spades, hoes, etc." (lines 22-23), is also suggested.

Patent for a new and improved gear-shifting mechanism for harvesters. This design "has reference more especially to a gear-shifting mechanism for a reciprocating conveyer in which a gear is engaged and automatically disengaged as the conveyer nears the end of its stubbleward movement" (lines 10-15). It consists, "with a bar provided with a guide having a slot and a depression in said slot, an antifriction roller on said guide, a block or track having a recess, a movable bearing pivoted to the harvester-frame with one end and extending with its other end to the guide" (lines 106-112).
