Churn Power.

Patent for a new and improved churn power. This design "relates to improvements in churn-powers in which suitable gearing and frame-work operate in conjunction with a vertically-reciprocating dasher; and the objects of [the] improvements are, first, to provide a spring-power and suitable gearing for operating the dasher, with a view to rendering the same in a high degree effective, convenient, and especially adapted to the requirements of service; and second, to afford facilities for the easy winding of the powerful spring required for such service" (lines 8-19).

Patent for a new and improved kettle attachment. This design "provides an attachment to be used with the kettle, whereby the "boiling over" of the material and the consequent running of the same down the sides of the said kettle are prevented. The material that would ordinarily flow over the sides of the kettle and waste is by the use of [a] device . . . saved, and any and all danger of fire from the overflowing sugar in candy manufacture is prevented" (lines 11-20).

Patent for a new and improved street-car. This design "is to improve that kind of street or horse car the body of which is constructed to be reversed in its position upon the truck of the car; and the invention consists in the construction of the car-body, the truck upon which the body rests, the reversing devices comprising the holding and the releasing parts, and the combination of the brake devices with a reversible car-body" (lines 9-17).

Saddle-Tree Fork.

Patent for a new and improved saddle-tree fork. This design "strengthen[s] the iron fork by means of a bent wooden part" (lines 14-15). It also utilizes ribs running into and through the neck cavity, which strengthens the neck of the saddle, as when bearing the strain of a lasso.
