Patent for "a new and useful Improvements in the Construction of Privy-Vaults and Apparatus for Use Therewith"(lines 4-6)" to insure cleanliness in around privy-vaults and to prevent accumulations therein, especially in localities where water is not easily available"(lines 9-12), instructions and illustrations included.

Patent for a new and improved wind engine. This design "relates to an improvement in wind-engines, in which a vertical circular frame having a wind-wheel is covered to the half by a hemispherical roof supported by posts" (lines 8-12).

Patent for a new and improved funnel. This design "relates to improvements in funnels for transferring molasses and other thick liquid and substances from one receptacle into bottles, jars, and other vessels; and the objects of [the] improvements are to provide a funnel with means for securing it to a table, counter, &c.; to provide said funnel with means for forcing a liquid therethrough and the forcing apparatus with a detachable spout thereunder" (lines 10-19).

Patent for a new and improved sugarcane mill. This design "consist[s] of the frame composed of [a] bed-piece, vertical standards, and horizontal pieces, [one] piece having [a] trough, the vertical shaft, horizontally movable . . . and provided with the gear, the roller having stationary shaft provided with pinion, the [other] roller having stationary shaft provided with pinion, boxes, and screw-threaded rods" (lines 81-89).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists in "the combination of two sliding draw-heads, each provided with a shank having coiled around it a spring and a nut secured thereto, an upper sliding supporting-plate for the pin, having a tripping device, a lower sliding supporting-plate for the link, having a catch, a latch with a trip-arm for holding and releasing said plate, and a spring for drawing it back to its normal position" (lines 11-20).

Patent for a new and improved band stretcher. This design "relates to improvements in band-stretchers in which a windlass, crank, and ratchets operate in conjunction with a sliding clamp; and the object of [the] improvement is to provide a device with which the ends of a band may be drawn together and held for the purpose of lacing" (lines 15-21).

Patent for improvement to a cotton-chopper with a "mechanism for cultivating the soil between the hills as well as for bringing the said hills to a regular form" (lines 18-20).

Patent for a new and improved lock for baling-press doors. This design "is to provide a . . . locking device for the doors of the baling chamber of a baling-press, which locking device is so constructed that all the doors can be locked in a single operation and by means of the same device, and may be loosened simultaneously" (lines 8-14).

Patent for a new ratchet-wrench with "improved construction and combination of parts" (lines 26-27), including illustrations.

Patent for improvements to railroad track raisers.

Patent for a new and improved plow. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a plow-beam, of two side-bars, the rear portion of each of which is folded back upon itself, forming a standard, a shorter standard, a handle the front end of which and the end of the double portion are secured to the said bar by means of a single bolt, and the downturned end of one-half of the adjusting device and a brace for said handle being secured by a single bolt at another place" (lines 8-17).

Patent for a new and improved press. This design "consists in compressing-rollers placed in suitable bearings, so as to coincide with an inlet-channel which receives and guides the fibrous substance to be baled into the baling-box of a press after the compressing-rollers have given it a preparatory pressing" (lines 10-16).

Patent for a new and improved tire-tightener. This design has "parts [that] are the width of a felly and a fraction less their depth, and bearing solid against their ends are held in place by flanges on each end. As the screw is turned in it forces the parts against the ends of felly, forcing the fellies against the tire, and is prevented from coming in contact with the tire by a rubber fender, or of other substance placed under tire-tightener. Fender is held in place by flanges at each side on bottom of tire-tightener; is also provided with a sliding joint on sides to cover the opening made by expansion" (lines 14-26).

Patent for a new and improved holder for shades and reflectors. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a lamp-burner and its reflector, of a collar having the female threads, the radial arms, correspondingly threaded at the inner end, and having eyes at the outer end, and the spring-wire or cut ring carrying the reflector on one end" (lines 56-61).

Patent for a new and improved honey extractor. This design "consists in, first, the combination, in a honey-extractor, of the pail, a suitable support for the revolving frame, a revolving frame which is made widest at its top, a perforated cross-piece which extends across the pail, and a spool or drum which is attached to the top of the vertical shaft . . . [and] second, the support which extends across the top of the pail or can, and which is provided with a series of holes so that it can be adapted to cans of different sizes" (lines 13-24).

Patent for a new and improved lock for hames. This design "consist[s] of the coupling branches . . . [one] being composed of the two pivoted sections forming the bell-mouth, the section having the slot and spring secured to its opposite end and pressing against the underside of the section, and the branch having the catch-tooth adapted to enter the bell-mouth and engage the slot" (lines 67-75).

Patent for a new and improved boiler and evaporator for sorghum. This design consists in "[an] evaporating pan having the partition walls, the elbow-tubes pivoted in the lower edge of said partitions, and capable of being turned parallel to the bottom of said pan at any angle or perpendicular thereto, [a] copper coil laid in a serpentine groove, made in the bottom of said pan, one end passing through one end of said pan and connecting with a steam generator, and having a valve to regulate the flow of steam, the other end of said coil passing through the other end of said pan" (lines 83-94).

Patent for a new and improved planter. This design "consists in the detailed construction . . . by which the operator is enabled to see each seed in its passage from the planting-wheel to the ground, and so can guard against the disadvantage of some of the rows being only half planted, from the seed-spout getting stopped up, or from the planter-wheel failing to act properly, and in other improvements" (lines 13-21).

Patent for the improvement of seed planters, according to the inventor, "by providing the hopper of the same with regulating devices, whereby the seed may be planted in desired quantities and at desired intervals".

Patent for a new and improved rein holder. This design "relates to rein-holders, the object being to provide a device of this character which will firmly and securely hold the reins in place and prevent their forward movement and yet allow them to be readily drawn in a rearward direction to allow of detachment; and, further, to provide a rein-holder which may be readily and easily attached to or detached from the front gate of a wagon or the dash-board of a buggy" (lines 8-17).

Patent for a new and improved rocking-chair fan. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the fan-frame and fan, sleeve, cord, and the rocker, of the double clamping device for uniting the fan-frame to the rocker . . . and the connecting cord or wire" (lines 24-31).

Patent for a new and improved sash holder. This design "relates to improvements in window-stops, the object of which is to provide a cheap, convenient, and durable device for supporting windows, which may be set in the sash, so as not to mar its looks" (lines 12-16).
