Patent for a new and improved spring-draft attachment. This design "is to do away with the ordinary doubletree . . . which is especially adapted for a two-horse vehicle, which . . . prevents the horses from pulling against one another, [and ] prevents the pole from swaying sidewise" (lines 10-18). It "consist[s] of a frame provided with an eye at one end and with a cross-bar near its center, a draw-bar having one end screw-threaded and provided with an eye at its other end and with a collar at its screw-threaded end, a nut on the draw-bar, and a spring surrounding the draw-bar" (lines 65-71).

Patent for a new and improved post-hole auger. This design "is adapted to be attached to a cart or wagon and moved from place to place thereon in line with the proposed operating fence and operated to bore post-holes without the necessity of detaching it from the wagon, whereby the machine may be readily transported and arranged in position for use" (lines 14-20). It consists, "with a wagon having brackets secured to one side thereof, of a vertically-sliding frame moving within said brackets and carrying an earth-auger and gearing for actuating said auger" (lines 14-18).

This design is "to provide a plow adapted to be used in connection with either single or double sweeps and to facilitate the application and removal of either thereof, and, furthermore, to provide means for steadying the plow during operation" (lines 8-14). It consists, "with the beam and standard, of the triangular brace having a series of adjusting holes at its upper end and at its lower front end curved upwardly, forwardly, and downwardly and at its extremity slotted, the adjusting-bolts . . . passed through the adjusting-holes and slot, [and] the steel shoe" (lines 6-13).
