Patent for a new and improved coffee pot. This design "consists in securing a wire diagonally down the side of the pot, and to which wire is attached the cover of the pot in such a manner that the cover can be dropped down out of the way when the condenser is put on without detaching the cover from the pot" (lines 13-18).

Patent for a new and improved bed attachment for bed-ridden persons. This design "consists, principally, of a frame, hinged between the side boards of the bedstead, said frame having a removable seat and adapted to be brought to a vertical position for supporting the [bed-ridden person] in a sitting position. The invention also consists in the construction and arrangement of parts" (lines 10-16).

Patent for a new and improved bolt-lock. This design is for a flat piece of metal (the "lock") that secures the head of the bolt so that, when the adjoining nut becomes rusted, the nut and bolt can be successfully separated without damaging the surrounding material.

Patent for a new and improved lap ring (or link). This design utilizes a hinge to allow for half of the ring to part from the other half, which creates a larger opening and allows for connection with a wider range of things (e.g., larger clevises).

Patent for a new and improved stalk cutter. This design consists in "relates to machines for cutting corn and cotton stalks; and it consists in certain improvements in the construction of the same" (lines 18-21).

Patent for a new and improved stalk cutter. This design "consists in certain improvements in the construction of [devices for cutting corn and cotton stalks] . . . [and] [t]he object of the invention is to simplify and cheapen the construction and arrangement of means for adjusting the pitch of the sides without affecting the usefulness or efficiency of the device; and to that end such means consist, essentially, in a single-rack bar, an operating-lever, and two links connecting said lever with the side bars" (lines 15-28).

Patent for a new and improved gate. This design "consists in the novel construction and arrangement of the posts, the latch-bar pivoted to the main rail by inclined braces and operated by a rock-shaft and push-arms inclined in a direction opposite to that of the inclined braces, weight-box, and cranks for operating the rock-shaft to open and close the gate" (lines 19-25).

Patent for a new and improved spring bed-bottom. This design utilizes a new method of coiling the wire so that only one wire may be used to make up all of the springs. By moving diagonally from one end of one spring to the end of another, this design eliminates the possibility of losing any individual spring.

Patent for a new and improved seed planter. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the seed-hopper and seed-slide, of the stationary catch and elastic spring-catch, both secured to the hopper and arranged to grasp the head of the brush" (lines 60-64).

Patent for a new and improved cable or chain stopper. For this design, "the chain-links lie diagonally in opposite directions upon the recessed bottom of the clamping-box, and the clamping-block has a similarly recessed under face . . . and a forked lever is employed to press the clamping-block toward the bottom of the clamping-box, and thereby apply the required force to the chain to lessen its speed as it runs out" (lines 18-32).
