This design calls for side-rails that extend through the mortises and countersunk apertures so that the ends of the side-rails can expand in the countersinks.

Patent for a new and improved mattress making machine. This design calls for a box with a hinged door and gauges that adjust the box to the desired width for mattress making. Additionally, slats at the bottom of the box and along the inside of the hinged lid have straps and pins that one uses to bind the mattress material after it fills the box.
