Patent for cattle guards utilizing a gate normally disposed across a railroad track. This gate is modified for operation by actuation of a moving train approaching the guard from either direction.

This design "is for an improvement upon that class of inventions known as 'flooring jacks' or 'clamps,' and has for its object the lessening of labor for the attainment of the object or result which this is intended to perform, and the readiness and ease with which it can be manipulated" (lines 15-21).

Patent for a colter attachment (triangular blade used on lister plows), by capitalizing on parts that should already exist on the plow.

Patent for an apparatus that cleans burs and other foreign matter from cotton through a suction process prior to ginning, including instructions and illustrations. The inventor claims this apparatus is simpler, more affordable, and more effective than previous methods for cleaning cotton.

Patent for a well-drilling apparatus granted to Eli Catlin which is simpler and more convenient to use as well as being less expensive.

Patent for a simple and efficient well-drilling machine that is meant for drilling Artesian and other wells. This invention is a "mechanism for reciprocating and turning the tool during the drilling operation, and to provide for the lowering of the drill as the latter advances to the work and for the withdrawal of the same from the well when required for any desired purpose" (lines 8-15). It is also designed to remove water, mud, slush, etc. from the well while drilling.

Patent for a coupling for trains air brake hoses/pipes, which automatically connects when train cars are put together.

Patent for a new and improved steam-engine. This design "relates to certain improvements in compound steam-engines; and it has for its objects to lessen friction and provide for the effective working of such engines" (lines 8-11).

Patent for a blowing-engine that will make the glass-blowing process less laborious. Includes instructions and illustrations.

Patent for a removable replacement tire. To provide simple and easy removable tires to replace the old ones.

Patent for a fire extinguisher that "reliev[es] water or stream, or both, into pipes from which it discharges at different points in a building" (lines 14-17). The invention operates automatically, and is especially designed for gin houses.

Patent for a new and improved shingling-bracket. This design consists "[i]n a shingling-bracket, the combination of the frame having the beveled upper ends provided with the studs and the prongs at its lower ends, the frame having the prongs, the serrations or notches to receive the upper ends of the frame, the recesses in said notches for the studs, and the links connecting the frames . . . whereby the latter may be adjusted to any desired angle or folded together" (lines 78-87).

Patent for "a new and improved rotary engine which is simple and durable in construction and very effective in operation, using the steam expansively and to the fullest advantage, at the same time being adapted to compound engines" (lines 8-12).

Patent for an improvement to "crematories or furnaces for burning garbage and other matter" (lines 11-12) that has a combined furnace and garbage chamber with walls of fire-brick or tile.

Patent for folding steps attached to a railway car or trolley, which are easily operated by the conductor and when folded block the exit of the car to prevent passengers leaving or entering without the steps.

Patent for public carriers such as cars that are designed for transporting passengers, especially steam operated railways. This patent will provide these carriers with a string of steps at each end upon both sides to facilitate ingress and egress. These steps are stationary and for safety terminate a short distance away from the ground.

Patent for "a device of improved form for holding flour and meal and from which the same may be drawn and sifted in any desired quantity." (Lines 14-17) Includes instructions and illustrations.
