Animal Trap.

Patent for a new and improved animal trap. This design consists in "a platform having a rod or bar secured to its upper face, and having the ends of the choke-spring coiled thereon, pins or prongs extending from one edge of the platform for engagement with a side of a box, a box having one of its sides elevated, against which the pronged end of the platform abuts for engagement therewith, and having recesses in its opposite ends for the recession of a loop, which passes thence over the free end of the platform for binding the same to the box" (lines 3-14).

Car-Brake.

Patent for a car brake that has independent brake shoes and brake pressure is equally applied to all the wheels of the truck. The invention is meant to "obtain in a car brake of this class a central transmission of the applied brake power to the different groups of brake mechanism whereby the brake power is distributed equally to each wheel and the brakes are not only rendered more stable and certain in their operation, but are better adapted for the application of either hand or air brake or pressure" (lines 22-31). The brake shoes are operated by a lever that is suspended from the truck body and pivots.

Patent for am adding machine by using two disks, one a units-disk with pins in multiples of ten, one a tens-disk, is an annular disk with pin surrounding the units disk, an outwardly spring-pressed holder having a beveled outer end frictionally engaging the pins of the tens-disk and a carrier having oppositely-beveled ends engaged a supplemental pin and one pin on the tens-disks, teeth in the adjacent faces of the holder and carrier, and an idle-gear between them to enable the adding operation. Patent for improvements in cotton-choppers by using a crown-wheel attached to one of the ground-wheels of the chopper. When the ground wheels impart motion to the crown wheel, which in turn communicates motion to the pinions of the shaft. This shaft drives the two sprocket-wheels; the sprocket wheel that located in the rear portions of the crank-shaft imparts motion to the crank-shaft, which drives the vertical choppers.
