Patent for a new and improved cotton-blocker. This design "relates to cotton-blockers . . . to be applied to cultivators; and the object of the invention is to provide a blocker and mechanism for operating it which may be applied to cultivators of any construction, and with but little trouble, and to provide a hoe-blade which will clear itself of dirt and weeds and make a regular and steady stroke" (lines 11-18).

Patent for a new and improved ice-machine compressor. This design consists in "an ammonia-compressor, the piston-rod having transverse opening in combination with the valve, stem having slot and shoulder, key held therein by a wedge, and the spring and washer" (lines 90-94).

Patent for a new and improved ant trap. This design "consists in a frame which is adapted to be placed over the ant-hill, so as to surround the entrance thereto, and provided with parallel surrounding flanges or sides which converge to each other and lead to an exit-spout . . . [and] is to provide an ant-trap which is adapted to catch the ants both on their attempt to leave the hill or to return to it, whereby the entire colony may be exterminated" (lines 9-21).

Patent for a new and improved cooking utensil. This design consists in "[a] cooking-vessel consisting of the outer vessel having a notched lid, and a handle provided with the pin, and the inner perforated vessel having a handle projecting over the [first] handle, and apertured to receive the pin, and legs on the bottom of the perforated vessel" (lines 4-10).

Patent for a new and improved combined ring and buckle. This design is "to provide a device particularly for use in halters, whereby the manufacture of the latter may be accomplished without so much sewing or riveting of the parts together as is required where the ordinary halter-ring is used. [It] is capable of application to purposes other than harnesses" (lines 9-16).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists in "a draw-head and a swinging coupling-hook pivoted therein, of the rock-shaft having the crank-arm provided with the grooved head, the chain arranged in said groove and connected with the hook, the ratchet-disk on the shaft, and the pawl for engaging the ratchet-disk" (lines 76-82).

Patent for a new and improved tire-shrinker. This design "consist[s] of the block having the perforations . . . mortise-hole, and mortised sockets, [and] curved bar secured to the circular edge of said block" (lines 97-100). Further, it "ha[s] on the outer edge the teeth, the U-shaped clamping-blocks, their bent ends fitting in the mortised sockets and under the curved bar, their mortised ends extending up either side of said bar and beyond its outer edge, keys fitting in the mortise-holes of said U-shaped blocks, [and] kinker-head having the arm extending through the mortise-hole in said bar" (lines 1-10).

Patent for a new and improved shoe-upper blank. This design "relates to an improvement in blanks for the uppers of what are known as 'plow-shoes,' wherein a fly is folded over the instep and secured upon the side of the shoe by means of a tongue and buckle. The object of [the] invention is to provide a durable, inexpensive, and comfortable shoe which will be largely free from stitching and will have a neatly fitting and pleasing appearance" (lines 7-16).

Patent for a new and improved planter. This design consists in "the combination, with a frame, a hopper, and a wheel provided with pins projecting from its sides, of the slide provided with the pins, the [other] slide provided with the inclined slots, the levers pivoted to the frame, the links connected to the said slides and levers, the stirrer-shaft provided with crank-arms, and the [other] link" (lines 21-29).

Patent for a new and improved refrigerator. This design consists in "[t]he improved portable pie-safe . . . comprising the body, the guide-rods arranged vertically in the said body, near the corners thereof, and extended through the top of the same to form the loops, the bail or handle secured to said loops, the cross-bars secured to said guide-rods, and the spring-actuated shelves mounted on the said cross-bars" (lines 78-86).
