Combined Seed Planter and Cultivator.

Patent for a new and improved combined planter and cultivator. This design has for its object "to facilitate the planting of seed and the cultivating of plants, and to promote convenience in adjusting the machines for the different kinds of work. The invention consists in the construction, arrangement, and combination of parts" (lines 21-27).

Corn and Cotton Planter Combined.

Patent for a new and improved planter. This design "is to provide a planter which may be used as a cotton-planter or other small-seed planter, the various parts being so arranged that the number of grains planted in a hill may be regulated as desired, while the depth of the furrow may also be regulated in accordance with the requirements of the case" (lines 8-15).

Patent for a new and improved lock. This design "is to produce a lock and key in which the lock-case has no exterior opening communicating with its wards or works, but is provided with a recess only for supporting the shank or axis of the key, while the only opening for the admission of the key to the interior of the lock, whereby its wards or bolt may be operated or controlled, is upon the interior of the lock-case, so that there is no possibility of introducing . . . picking devices therein, or of introducing any explosive agents" (lines 15-27).
