Patent for improvements in baling presses "in which the necessary motion may be imparted to the plunger in a rapid and effective manner, and which shall be productive of considerable saving of labor and power" (lines 15-19)

Patent for improvements "to the means for actuating the valves controlling the steam supply" (lines 10-12).

Patent for a new and improved roller and protector for maps and charts. This design consists, "with the case having longitudinal slot at its under side, the caps upon the ends of the case and formed with ears, the springs upon the case having their ends engaging the ends of the caps, metal bearings in the ends of the caps, the roller within the case with its pintles journaled in said bearings, and the cord wound upon the roller at one end in a reverse direction to the article carried by the roller with its free end passed through the opening in the under side of the cap at that end of the roller" (lines 21-32).

Patent for a new and improved clothespin. This design "has for its object to provide an improved pin that can be readily adjusted to any desired position upon the line, and which can be turned at any desired angle to clamp the clothes. The pin is constructed, preferably, of resilient wire—preferably galvanized or otherwise treated to prevent rusting of the same—and may be made in various sizes. [The design] form[s] the pin with an eye or ring portion, through which the line is passed, and with two sets of arms—one set having its two portions parallel with each other" (lines 11-22).

Design patent for an advertising banner that has a decorative border around the edge and bangles suspended from the lower edge.

Patent for a new and improved velocipede. This design "has relation to that class of velocipedes in which the rider is suspended within a large wheel impelled by a frictional contact between the inner periphery of the same and the driving wheel" (lines 8-12). With this design, "by the increased size of wheel, not only is speed gained, but the same may be propelled with greater ease over rough or smooth roads and with greater comfort to the rider, in that the jolt is less, and yet at the same time all the benefits arising from this class of exercise are obtained" (lines 27-34).

Patent for a new and improved cross-tie for railroads. This design consists, "with a plate-metal cross-tie body having inclined sides which are integrally joined at an apex and longitudinally-slotted, forming rail-seats, and integral lips on said apex, of a rod oppositely threaded at its ends, nuts which fit in the cross-tie body and are adapted to engage the right and left hand threads on the ends of the rod, integral lugs formed on the nuts, means to rotate the rod, and means to lock the rod from rotation" (lines 29-39).

Patent for a snap hook in order to "provide a hook of simple construction that shall be securely locked when in use" (p. 2)

Patent for "a combined call and annunciator system by which any number of signals can be sent automatically or manually and various signals received through the annunciator, the apparatus serving to send signals to or from any number of distant points on the circuit at any time" (lines 17-23).

Patent for a new and improved running-gear. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the front and rear axles, of the tubular connection, the connection between the tubular coupling and the head-block, formed with ears, the swiveled fifth-wheel carrying ears, the connecting-pin held in said ears, and the guard attached to the ends of the head-block, to the under side of the tubular coupling, and to the connection between the coupling and the head-block at the forward end thereof" (lines 89-98).

Patent for a new and improved self-lighting cigar. This design consists in "[a]n attachment for cigars, consisting of a metallic holder having spring-arms . . . and a projecting portion adapted to hold the igniting composition, and a disk adapted to bear upon the outer end of the cigar" (lines 6-11).

Patent for a new and improved sash balance. This design consists "of the strap provided with a series of holes and designed to have one end secured to the upper sash of a window, the hanger secured to the top of the window-frame and provided with the roller, the clasp or fastener secured to the lower sash and consisting of the plate having the ears and provided with a roller journaled in the ears and having the pin or stud arranged to engage the hole of the strap" (lines 85-95).

Patent for improvements "to provide an improved track having provisions for readily tightening the track, each span or section being tightened by means of a single tightening device arranged, preferably. . . second, to provide an improved truck with guiding rollers or pulleys, the weight of the truck being carried upon yielding supports; third, a simple and improved swivel or turning device or connection between the car and track, whereby the turning of curves is more easily accomplished with a minimum of friction; fourth, to so mount the truck upon the track that displacement or removal thereof sidewise is impossible fifth, to provide an improved switch; sixth, to provide for a road-bed upon a span in crossing a stream or other analogous obstruction" (lines 14-31).
