Patent for a new and improved coffee roaster. This design calls for "a revolving cylinder; and the invention consists of a cylinder provided with a hollow trunnion, and of a semi-tubular tester introduced through said trunnion into the cylinder, which tester serves as a handle for revolving the cylinder, and can be withdrawn from time to time with samples of coffee to enable the operator to judge of the progress of the roasting process" (lines 11-19).

Patent for a new and improved child's crib. This design utilizes "a rock-shaft with inward-projecting arms, from the inner ends of which the cords are suspended, [and it] avoid[s] the friction and wear of the cords incident to the carrying of these through the screw-eyes, as shown in [a previous patent], making them last much longer, beside simplifying the construction of the crib" (lines 67-74).

Patent for a new and improved press for bricks. This design "relates to certain improvements in that class of brick-presses in which the clay is molded into shape by hand-power; and the object of [the] improvement is to form a cheap, durable, and effective machine for accomplishing the work" (lines 10-15).

Patent for a new and improved nut lock. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the end-cleft screw-bolt, of the wedge which is made of the same width as the diameter of the bolt, and provided with serrations corresponding to the screw-thread, and the fastening-wire which is wrapped around both bolt and wedge and lies in their respective grooves and serrations" (lines 72-78).

Patent for a new and improved sulky plow. This design "furnish[es] a sulky-frame and plow supporting and adjusting devices of a simplified construction, and [provides] more effective means for gaging the depth of the penetration of the plow into the ground, and guiding or steadying the movement thereof" (lines 17-23).

Patent for a new and improved safety spout for lamps. This design is for an angled tube with a mouth to receive oil and a threaded end to screw onto an oil lamp. This allows for the lamp to be safely refilled while lit.

Patent for a new and improved railway rail and chair combination. This design consists in "[t]he combination of the reversible rail and chair-plates . . . so as to leave an open crescent-shaped space below the middle part of the rail and above the inwardly projecting lips" (lines 94-98).

Patent for a new and improved oscillating cradle. This design utilizes a hand-crank and gears to gently rock the wooden cradle back and forth. Also connected to the crank is a wooden rod at the bottom which gently strikes a xylophone underneath.
