Patent for a new and improved street-car. This design "is to improve that kind of street or horse car the body of which is constructed to be reversed in its position upon the truck of the car; and the invention consists in the construction of the car-body, the truck upon which the body rests, the reversing devices comprising the holding and the releasing parts, and the combination of the brake devices with a reversible car-body" (lines 9-17).

Patent for a sewer trap that prevents "the grease and other extraneous matter from sinks, and other fixtures in the house to effect a logment in the sewer, to the consequent obstruction and clogging up of the same" (lines 16-20). This makes sewers healthier and require less maintenance.

Patent for an improved railroad rail that is "composed of track or running rails proper and supplementary rails bolted to the track rails and having a laterally-projecting top portion which serves as a wheel guard or lateral brace for the track rails" (lines 14-19).

Patent for a new and improved net for fishing and crabbing by using a trigger device that would automatically open the net’s “free end” fully and horizontally when the net is lowered on the bed floor of the river. After use, the net can be folded very compactly for easy transport. Illustration is included.

Patent for improvements in retort-burners, to be used for any suitable and desired purposed and for any kind of oils by providing a "direct-combustion retort-burner that the combustion will be perfect and complete and the oil and air may be supplied thereto under a uniform pressure of high or low degree." (Lines 20-27) The retort-burner will be "readily assembled without the necessity of having special machinery for their manufacture or skilled workmen to put them together." Patent for a new and improved frame house. This design consists of "[t]he combination, in a roof, of T-shaped caps or battens having in their depending tongues the transverse dovetail grooves, the roof-boards arranged above the grooves and below the horizontal and lateral arms of the said battens, and the purlins adapted to enter the grooves and grooved longitudinally to engage the said tongues" (lines 23-31).
